ECS includes nearly 800 staff spread across 6 countries and capabilities in scope critical to how AZ builds, tests, and supports IT platforms and products of the future. The following are the core IT capabilities within ECS scopeHyper automation (RPA / OpenAI / Low-Code No-Code/ Process-mining technologies).Software Quality & TestingExtended Reality including AR/VRSoftware Engineering.Cross-functional Enterprise Software Platforms (Service Now, SalesForce).ABOUT THE ROLEThe Solution Architect of Software Engineering domain will work closely with the Head of Architecture (ECS), ECS projects teams, stakeholders across AZ and is accountable for design of software artifacts across ECS in compliance to global AZ enterprise standards, ensuring holistic Business, Application, Information, and Infrastructure architecture for components with ECS.The Solution Architect ensures that AZ technical solutions are delivered to AZ defined reference architecture and technology standards. The role will ensure that common architecture decisions are implemented consistently across the business and IT.The role will provide Information Technology architectural expertise and technical direction to system development and integration projects. The Architect will work on architectures for business solutions and will specialise in at least one architecture domain \xe2\x80\x93 aligned domain for this role being Software Engineering.To be successful in this role the candidate needs to be an experienced solution architect who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and a global team. The ability to work and communicate with senior business stakeholders to understand their goals, capabilities needed, and requirements and to translate these into comprehensive solution blueprints is essential. A clear, logical style, an ability to document solution architecture and key design decisions in a blueprint, and to work closely with business analysts and project managers is crucial.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe Architect will be the responsible architect on projects within Software Engineering including but not limited to:Digital Uplift and Transformation, Application Refresh Programmes and selecting and implementing AstraZeneca\xe2\x80\x99s strategic solutions to support these projects.Designs architectures, solution blueprints for projects or solutions that address business/application/data/infrastructure requirements.Works with Business Analysis and Solution Engineering functions and supports functional & technical requirements management, including providing senior architecture support in the technology acquisition selection process.Ensures that solution architectures and designs are appropriately robust and address business, application, information and infrastructure architectural requirementsAccountable for architecting and designing comprehensive solutions that meet business requirements and are aligned to AstraZeneca\xe2\x80\x99s Enterprise Architecture, in support of a given portfolio.The Architect will partner with project managers, business analysts, and solution engineers to create solutions that are aligned to AstraZeneca architecture standards and principles, leverage common solutions and services, and meet the financial targets (cost and benefits)The Architect will support the Lead Architect in defining technology roadmaps.Within the solution development lifecycle the role will be accountable for solution evaluation and selection, buy vs. build decisions, and early-phase project estimates which contribute to the business caseProvides technical & IT expertise support to project teams and conducts AZ architectural reviews throughout project lifecycle.Ensures compliance with existing EA guidelines and standards (e.g. AZ Architecture Engagement Process (ISPMM) and EA Software Standards)Contributes to project and service teams in the development, implementation and maintenance of standard architectural components.Works with third party suppliers as required and contributes to the creation of functional design documents.Works with third party suppliers to verify technical development and delivery are in adherence with the Architecture RoadmapEnsure Design of solutions is documented in supporting Architectural Artefacts ie Solution Blueprint and seeks Architecture Review Board Signoff.Documents all architecture analysis and design workContributes to the development of the Architecture Capability, by documenting and sharing knowledge and best practices with peer ArchitectsESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLSRelevant technical degree or equivalent.Proven skills and experience being a solution architect on projects and programmes.Proven development/design experience in at least one domain.Expertise in at least one full stack programming stack (Java/Javascript) with deployment in at least one cloud service provider (AWS/GCP/Azure) for the entire Software Engineering lifecycle (Analysis, Design, Development, Testing, and Post-production support).Experience in more than one programming language (Java/Javascript/Python)Experience of developing innovative solutions, blueprints and standards for solution designExperience implementing and maintaining business solution architectures under any formal framework for their domain of architecture.Experience of developing and managing relationships with 3rd party suppliersExcellent analytical skillsExcellent communication, facilitation and relationship management skillsStrong networking skills with good internal/external linksEvidence of shaping innovative solutions that have a major impact within the business area and organisationAwareness of developments in the marketplace for potential impact to AZ / ECS ITExcellent business acumen and strong knowledge of manufacturing business processesDemonstrated initiative, strong customer orientation, and cross-cultural workingWHY JOIN USHere our work has a direct impact on patients \xe2\x80\x93 transforming our ability to develop life-changing medicines.
