From sustainable transportation to advanced semiconductors, from satellite systems to life-saving medical devices, the next great leaps in human advancement will be powered by Ansys.Innovate With Ansys, Power Your Career.Summary / Role PurposeThe Lead Application Engineer is responsible for leveraging advanced-level engineering knowledge and relationships to help customers solve complex engineering problems using Ansys Engineering Simulation Products and to support regional accounts with a significant impact on software revenue.This role encompasses working closely with the sales team to identify business growth opportunities, drive technical engagements, involve appropriate subject matter experts, and provide technical solutions for our customers. Initiate and engage in activities to support sales campaigns, deliver professional services to support software growth, and help translate customer requirements into exciting new product features. Lead complex customer engagements through project teams for presales, and professional service activities.Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead in coordinating and executing all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle such as technical discovery, negotiating technical success criteria, product presentations, demonstrations, and evaluations.
• Work independently within multi-disciplinary teams to help grow Ansys business for a full portfolio of products

• Demonstrate technical mastery and knowledge of Engineering simulation techniques to provide the highest level of technical support to customers ensuring high-quality, timely customer service.
• Support sales in formulating and implementing a strategy for enhancing market penetration to increase the business volume from Automotive, Industrial & Energy segments.
• Interacting with Automotive OEMs & Tier-1 and other Industries regularly for developmental projects and addressing customer needs and desires for solutions during design and engineering stages.
• Take ownership of customer problems and proactively engage with selected accounts to provide comprehensive engineering simulation solutions.
• Lead complex customer engagements throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle, interact with key customers to understand their product design needs, key business initiatives, and engineering design workflows, and articulate Ansys' value proposition to Director or C-level audiences.
• Gather and document relevant metrics to show the impact of the technical engagements
• Gather customer requirements to support the improvement of Ansys software and collaborate with the Ansys product development teams to translate customer requirements into new product capabilities and to guide Ansys product roadmap. Lead project teams testing new releases on industrial problems.
• Participate in internal corporate initiatives to share knowledge and to create best practices, both within and outside the discipline.
• Mentor Junior Engineers
• Support Ansys field and digital marketing, author conference presentations.
• Actively collaborate with other team members as well as other functions including sales, marketing, and product management/development within and outside of the region to drive customer success.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

• Required education and degree type: Bachelors, Masters or PhD in Mechanical/Chemical/Aerospace or a related field.
• Required maximum years of professional experience in an engineering environment: 12-15 years
• Worked on medium to large-size opportunities in the Automotive or Industrial & Energy accounts
• Demonstrated use of relevant Ansys software like Discovery, Fluent, CFX, Optimization, and knowledge of other Multiphysics tools like Structural, LS-Dyna, etc. are preferred.
• Subject matter expert in one or more relevant disciplines within Ansys' business and is/will be sought out for advice by other Ansys engineers
• Demonstrated understanding of engineering practices and product development, experience with building solutions using simulation technology, and deploying those solutions within customers' engineering workflows.
• Track record of delivering exceptional customer outcomes and revenue impact.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
• Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to facilitate and conduct webinars and presentations to customers and a wide range of audiences. Fluent in writing and speaking English
• Ability to organize and drive multiple projects that are complex in nature across geographically diverse locations. Possesses a sense of urgency.
• Projects a professional image and demonstrates business acumen, driven to succeed
• Ability to travel up to 40% of the time.

• Ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C-level executives.
• Demonstrated ability to understand business requirements and translate these into an execution plan that delivers value and meets business goals.
