Job Description

Responsible for the smooth functioning of LDR.

A Adherence to Nursing Clinical standards:

- Ensures professional handover and takeover of shift.

- Understands patient & consultant requirements and plans resource deployment to meet the need.

- Ensures efficient staffing, material, and equipment availability.

- Works with Clinicians to design the new-born delivery plan; required to administer medication, induce labour, monitoring fetal heart rate, assist with epidural injection.

- Reviews the doctor's notes and the drug chart and acts as required.

- Prepares nursing care plans and renders effective bedside nursing care.

- Experienced and efficient in handling neonates and new mothers; capable of CTG interpretation.

- Competently manage nurse patient ratio.

- Ensures nurses are competent and can handle tasks assigned to them.

- Ensures nurses follow the protocols without exception.

- Assigns duty ensuring mix of experience and skill, senior and junior, per shift.

- Ensures timely completion of all tasks.

- Ensures NS is informed of any incidents immediately.

- Provides accurate, timely information to HoD and concerned stakeholders.

- Provides moral support to the mother and family.

- Provides clinical inputs on patient condition to consultant.

- Coordinates neo-natal resuscitation.

- Competently handles all equipment and gadgets used in patient care; ensures team is competent in usage; ensures equipment is serviceable and readily available.

- Ensure all gauze pieces & instruments are accounted for, post-delivery - nothing to be left inside patient.

- Adheres to the infection control practices; ensures hygiene and sterility of personnel, equipment and environment.

- Maintain records, reports, and registers as per organizational standards.

- Accurately captures data, ensures documentation is complete and correct, tracks Nursing Quality Indicators and reports accurately.

- Accurately maintain records of all procedures, birth register, still births, incidents, foetus disposal.

- Submits reports as per timelines.

- Ensures still-born fetus disposal is as per protocol.

- Coordinates and documents samples for genetic analysis.

- Aware of NABH & Nursing Excellence standards and implements the same.

- Conduct cross audits within Nursing.

- Responsible for Inventory management & cost control, ensuring no wastage and misuse.

- Adherence to Drug control usage policy.

- Ensures medication safety and practices patient safety protocols.

- Aware of the following: Barrier Nursing, Patient and Self Safety, neonatal death.

- Maintains confidentiality of patient information - medical and personal. Will ensure no violation by desisting from discussion of patient identifiable information in non-secure areas.

- Promptly addresses errors and takes corrective action.

- Handles emergencies competently & calmly; provides guidance & decisions in a timely manner.

- Capable of quick accurate decision making in emergencies.

- Coordinates closely with Admissions to plan resource deployment based on occupancy; when expected to be full, to escalate if resources are required.

A Responsible for Outstanding Service Experience Delivery:

- Ensures team is well-groomed as per standard; maintain discipline and decorum

- Responsible for the implementation of the Service Vision - ensures Nurses deliver services that delight customers.

- Maintains cordial inter-personal relationship within the team and other departments.

- Manages the LDR services, coordinating with support service departments to ensure customers are comfortable and services are as per standard.

A Consultant Relationship:

- Has a good relationship with consultants and works well with them.

A Team Management:

- Inspires and leads team effectively.

- Creates and maintains cordial relationship within the unit and with other departments.

- Ensure Induction and training of team as per protocol.

- Prepares effective training modules, coaches on the job to enhance team skills.

- Conduct appraisals fairly and objectively; encourages and helps develop team skills.

- Develops competent 2nd line.

- Ensures retention of team.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ?25,000.00 - ?40,000.00 per month
