Position : Law Officer

Reports To : Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Job Summary :
The Law Officer will be responsible for ensuring legal protection and compliance across the company's business activities, including Startup/Business Consultancy, Legal Recovery Services for Banks/FIs, and Security & Facilitation Services. The role involves preparing and handling legal cases, maintaining necessary records, and representing the company in interactions with regulatory authorities and courts.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities (KRA) :
• Legal Compliance :
• Ensure the company's compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
• Review and draft contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to safeguard the company's interests.
• Legal Case Management :
• Prepare, manage, and handle all legal cases related to the company's operations.
• Represent the company in legal proceedings, including attending hearings and filing necessary documents.
• Regulatory Interaction :
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, prepare and submit required documents, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Handle communications with government agencies, courts, and other legal entities.
• Documentation and Record Keeping :
• Maintain comprehensive records of all legal cases, contracts, and compliance activities.
• Ensure that all legal documentation is up-to-date and accessible.
• Advisory :
• Provide legal advice to the management and other departments on various issues, including risk management and legal implications of business decisions.
• Training and Awareness :
• Conduct training sessions for employees on legal compliance and best practices.
• Stay updated with changes in laws and regulations that impact the company.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI) :
• Compliance Rate : Percentage of compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Case Success Rate : Percentage of successful legal outcomes (cases won or settled favorably).
• Timeliness of Submissions : Timely submission of documents and responses to authorities and courts.
• Accuracy of Documentation : Maintenance of accurate and up-to-date legal records.
• Training Effectiveness : Number of training sessions conducted and feedback received.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) :
• Legal Document Review and Preparation :
• Review all contracts, agreements, and legal documents for compliance and risk management.
• Draft and revise legal documents as needed.
• Handling Legal Cases :
• Prepare case files, gather evidence, and develop legal strategies.
• File necessary documents with courts and authorities.
• Attend court hearings and represent the company.
• Regulatory Interaction and Compliance :
• Prepare and submit required documents to regulatory authorities.
• Liaise with government agencies and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Documentation and Record Keeping :
• Maintain an organized system for legal records, including contracts, case files, and correspondence.
• Regularly update and review legal documentation.
• Advisory and Training :
• Provide legal advice on business operations and decision-making.
• Conduct training sessions on compliance and legal practices.
Monitoring System :
• Regular Reporting :
• Weekly updates to the CEO on ongoing legal cases and compliance status.
• Monthly reports on key performance metrics and legal activities.
• Compliance Audits :
• Regular audits of compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Review of legal documentation and processes for accuracy and completeness.
• Feedback and Continuous Improvement :
• Collect feedback from internal stakeholders on legal services and support.
• Implement improvements based on feedback and audit results.
Qualifications and Experience :
• Education : Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution. A Master's degree in Law (LLM) is preferred.
• Experience : Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in legal practice, preferably in corporate law, regulatory compliance, and litigation.
• Skills : Strong knowledge of Indian legal and regulatory frameworks, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
• Certifications : Membership in a recognized Bar Council in India.
Additional Requirements :
• Availability : Willingness to travel to various regulatory authorities and courts as required.
• Work Environment : The Law Officer will be stationed at the office entry area, handling legal documentation and interacting with visitors as needed.
