Job Summary:



The Lab Technician (Phlebotomist) is responsible for collecting, handling, and processing blood samples for laboratory diagnosis. This role requires precision in venipuncture, proper sample handling, and adherence to safety protocols to ensure accurate test results and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities:



1.

Blood Collection:

Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection from patients following

proper techniques and safety protocols.

2.

Sample Handling & Processing:

Label, store, and transport blood samples as per laboratory

guidelines.

3.

Patient Interaction:

Communicate effectively with patients, ensure their comfort, and address

concerns regarding sample collection.

4.

Equipment Maintenance:

Maintain and sterilize phlebotomy instruments and ensure their

proper functioning.

5.

Documentation & Record-Keeping:

Properly document patient details, test requests, and

sample tracking in laboratory management systems.

6.

Safety & Compliance:

Follow biosafety and infection control guidelines as per Indian

regulations.

Role and Responsibilities:



Identify patients and their personal information using their ID, documents or other means Find veins that are suitable for puncture Determine the right venipuncture method based on patient age, health etc. Draw blood using sterilised needles, vials and other equipment Ensure optimal quality and quantity of samples OPD Blood Collection, Swab Collection. Perform phlebotomy procedures on paediatric, adult, and geriatric patients with varying levels of cooperation and medical conditions. Educate patients on the blood collection process, including pre-procedure instructions and post-procedure care. Maintain a clean and organised workspace, ensuring proper disposal of biohazards materials and adherence to infection control protocols. Naming & Labelling Tubes properly. Register maintenance. Daily Cash Collection & tallying Cash Report Generation. All Patient related Data Entry work as & when required. Should work in Rotational shift and any assigned centre. To follow NABL protocols at and every step. Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards while working Help with blood transfusions, IV transfusions and IM injections Daily reporting to reporting authority in prescribed format.
