Job Title: Laboratory Technician
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled laboratory technician to join our hematology department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting various laboratory tests to analyze blood and other bodily fluids for abnormalities and diseases, under the supervision of senior technologists and pathologists. This role requires precision, technical proficiency, and adherence to established laboratory protocols and safety guidelines.
Responsibilities:
• Perform a variety of tests on blood samples using automated and manual techniques, including complete blood counts (CBC), coagulation tests, and blood smear analysis.
• Prepare specimens for examination, including centrifugation, staining, and microscopic evaluation.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper functioning through regular calibration and quality control measures.
• Record and analyze data accurately, documenting all findings in laboratory information systems (LIS) or electronic medical records (EMR).
• Assist in the evaluation and validation of new laboratory procedures and protocols.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines (e.g., CLIA, OSHA).
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals and laboratory staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely reporting of results.
• Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with advances in hematology technology and procedures.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field; certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) preferred.
• Proven experience (typically 1-3 years) working in a clinical laboratory setting of reputed hospital, with specific experience in hematology preferred.
• Strong understanding of laboratory techniques, equipment, and terminology related to hematology testing.
• Proficiency in using laboratory information systems (LIS) and familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, healthcare providers, and laboratory personnel.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in handling patient information and laboratory results.
