Job Description

Collect, receive, and label specimens such as blood, urine, tissues, or other biological samples. Ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of specimens to maintain sample integrity. Conduct a variety of routine and specialized laboratory tests, experiments, and analyses. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results. Perform quality control checks on equipment and testing procedures to maintain accuracy and precision. Monitor and validate test results to ensure adherence to established standards. Record and document test results, observations, and other relevant data accurately. Maintain detailed records of laboratory procedures and findings. Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment. Troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance to ensure proper functioning. Adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper disposal of hazardous materials. Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Collaborate with other laboratory staff, researchers, and healthcare professionals to achieve common goals. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors. Utilize analytical skills to interpret and analyse test results. Recognize and troubleshoot problems or inconsistencies in results. Identify and resolve issues with laboratory equipment and instruments. Report equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel. Manage and maintain laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumables. Compliance: Ensure compliance with laboratory regulations, standards, and safety guidelines. Stay informed about updates and changes in laboratory practices and protocols. Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, colleagues, and sometimes with patients. Prepare and present reports on laboratory findings. Provide support for research projects by conducting laboratory experiments and analyses. Assist researchers in collecting and processing data. Stay updated on advancements in laboratory technology, methodologies, and relevant scientific literature. Participate in professional development activities and training programs. Uphold ethical standards in research, testing, and interactions with colleagues and patients. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and laboratory findings.
