Assist with the construction of experimental devices
Perform maintenance, repairs and new installations on research and industrial equipment with direct supervision
Follows all lab safety rules and regulations and uses protective equipment to prevent electrical shock (hot work is not allowed)
Interprets wiring diagrams, engineers sketches and specifications to determine design factors
Install and de-install various types of wiring, cable, conduit, switches, fixtures and circuits safely
Performs cable pulls through conduit and tray
Installs lighting and power circuits, fiber optic cables (no terminations), power control equipment, motors and generators (typical voltages 480v 3ph and below)
Work directly under lead electrician and at times independently
Experience in electrical application for high and low voltage electric system
Ability to work well under the supervision of a Electrician following electrical code manuals
Two-year degree (college/technical/vocational) or equivalent experience in electronics, telecommunications and/or computer technology is required
FCC General Radiotelephone Operators License or equivalent license for radio repair is preferred, but not required for initial employment
Technical knowledge and skills that would enable you to pass the Alabama Power Craft Knowledge and Skills test is required before employment
Understanding of the various topologies, telecommunications, wireless, data and voice networks and how they interface with each other
