Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Source and select high-quality jewelry, ensuring a good mix of designs, styles, and materials (including precious and semi-precious stones.
• Work closely with suppliers, designers, and manufacturers to procure gemstones, and other materials.
• Analyze market trends and consumer preferences to ensure that collections are aligned with current demands.
• Possess in-depth knowledge of various gemstones, including their quality, characteristics, and market trends (e.g., diamonds, sapphires, rubies, emeralds, and more).
• Evaluate and assess the quality of gemstones to ensure they meet the required standards for the jewelry collection.
• Understand gemstone grading systems and communicate this information effectively to customers or sales teams.
• Advise on gemstone certification, treatments, and sourcing methods to ensure authenticity and ethical sourcing practices.

Customer Relationships:

• Build strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers, ensuring a reliable supply of high-quality materials and finished products.
• Respond to customer inquiries regarding the authenticity, quality, and care of gemstones and jewelry.
• Provide excellent customer service, addressing concerns or complaints related to gemstone quality, jewelry design, or pricing.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Education: A bachelor's degree in business, marketing, gemology, or a related field is often preferred. Certification from a gemological institute (e.g., GIA or equivalent) is a strong advantage.
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in jewelry merchandising, or gemology, with a focus on understanding gemstones and their market value.
• Gemstone Knowledge: Strong expertise in evaluating and working with various gemstones (diamond grading, precious and semi-precious stones, treatments, and certifications).
• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze sales data, inventory trends, and market conditions to make informed decisions.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers, suppliers, and teams effectively.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to spot imperfections in gemstones and jewelry designs, ensuring that only the highest quality products are selected.
