Job Title: IT Officer
Purpose of job:
To implement, manage, maintain and monitor Information and Communication Technology
(ICT) infrastructure for a range of appropriate, efficient and affordable IT services to enable
BCMS staff to have access to meet objectives, business needs, strategy, and to enable target
audience to access appropriate information on our products and services

Main opportunities/challenges for this role

Accountabilities, responsibilities, and main duties:

  • Reports to: Manager IT

  • Supervises: System Engineers

  • Territory / Products/processes/services handled: Determined by shift

Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties:
(including people management and finance)

Support ICT infrastructure (hardware, software and Infrastructure) administration, implementation and upgrades according to business and technical needs, in accordance with IT strategy, best practice, change and configuration management.

  • Ensure availability of Local Area Network (LAN) and Internet connectivity

  • Monitor of all servers (MS 2008) logs, services, performance, disk space, AD Management and taking corrective action.

  • Ensure daily backups of all servers is taken, including conducting test restores

  • Ensure systems are secured from external threats like hacking/virus attacks, including regular checks (software compliance)

  • Ensure restricted access to server room and physical security of IT equipments.

  • Organise weekly/monthly/quarterly IT activities support activities

  • Performing weekly & monthly backup tasks as per established backup policy and conduct respective checks by test restore

  • Implement approved updates/upgrades on receipt of guidelines and Technical Design within the agreed timeframes and ensure minimum ICT service disruptions.

  • Ensure installation of standard and approved software

  • Enhance the business processes of the organisation and identify requirements for improvements and new functionality

  • IT inventory (SW & HW) & network management-Wi-Fi access

  • Monitor IP telephony, video conferencing and mobile applications services

  • BCP management from IT support prospective

  • Technical supports to IT support team on standard software and hardware (accessed by customers and back office staff). Manage support call logs, provide technical resolution within agreed period and follow up on escalated issues to meet operational requirements.

  • Ensure timely first & second level of support as per the pre-defined SLA\\OLA.

  • Escalate any problems/issues to relevant teams as required and follow up.

  • Applications support queries to be acknowledged within pre-defined SLA\\OLA.

  • Support to local projects.

Information Security

  • Ensure that their workforce are aware of the information security policies and comply with them

  • Ensures that the team complies to ISO 27001 and IGA related requirements

  • Send account opening requests effectively

  • Disable accounts immediately for leavers and Absconders /on long leaves

  • Document and monitor / review access levels of his/her team

  • Provide security awareness and education to team

  • Manage Records to ensure compliance to Freedom of information act

  • Ensure incidents of their respective functions are closed within SLAs

Work extended hours during crises or emergency situations

Qualifications - Graduate
MCP - Networking, MCSE, CCNA ,ITILv4
Role specific knowledge and experience

  • At least 5 years of IT experience on desktop support and server administration. Networking and providing technical and business application support.


  • Familiar to ITIL- Incident management process
