Responsibilities for IT Software License Management
The role of a Software Licensing Manager encompasses several key responsibilities within an organization. The role is integral to the Software Asset Management process. It involves reducing, documenting, and controlling total IT costs related to software licenses. By optimizing licenses, organizations can make the most of their software investments
Contract Management:• Supports and administers software licenses in compliance with software and application services and products contract.
• Contributes to understanding and managing the technology spend, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements, and maintaining a repository of applications.


Budgeting and Procurement:• Plays critical role in technology budgeting by monitoring and controlling software-related expenses.


Licensing Compliance:• Ensures licensing compliance.
• Ensures adherence to licensing terms and conditions, avoiding any legal or financial risks.


Communication and Coordination:• Facilitates communication between the enterprise and software providers.
• Ensures software and applications are delivered according to plan, within budget, and aligned with organizational needs.


Responsibilities• Partners with IT Finance and Contract Management and the Software Asset Management Team
• Build strong partnerships to interface with leadership and teams at all levels within the organization
• Assists with planning, managing, and coordinating IT Software contracts and licenses
• Govern and tracks compliance to software contracts
• Provides status reporting to management
• Provides support for internal and external audits related to Software Licenses
• Schedule regular meetings and record decisions (e.g. assigned tasks and next steps)
• Break projects into doable tasks and set timeframes and goals
• Act as the first point of contact for IT software license requests, questions, and tasks


Required Qualifications• Bachelor's Degree (Management, Finance, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Technology or related field)
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills (in particular Microsoft Excel)
• Solid organization, time-management skills, and team spirit
• Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) to senior leaders
• Capacity to apply discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling sensitive information
• Ability to develop and manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company


Preferred Qualifications• Work experience as a Project Manager, Supply Chain, or Technology Management
• Ability to plan and manage complex projects with a strong skillset in execution
• Great learning agility with the ability to grasp concepts, build upon them, and execute
• Self-motivated and extremely responsive with a strong sense of urgency
• Self-starter with the energy and motivation necessary to be effective in a very demanding environment
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, facilitation, problem-solving and analytical skills
