Would you like to join our small, dedicated, international team based in India to make a difference in the lives of seafarers and their families?

ISWAN, an international charity headquartered in the UK, has presence in India and the Philippines, the two largest seafaring nations. We seek someone to manage our outreach efforts in India and South Asia who will report directly to ISWAN's International Operations Manager.

The task is to strengthen, develop, and support ISWAN's outreach programme in India and South Asia and be responsible for the execution of all related tasks in line with the strategy and policies set by the organisation.

The ISWAN India Coordinator will be offered a consultancy contract and shall lead outreach initiatives remotely from Mumbai, with the requirement to cover events, conferences, seminars, meetings, and other out-station travels as an ISWAN representative whenever required.

The primary area of focus will be working with the International Operations Manager to strategize and deliver professional welfare services to seafarers and their families in the region.

Roles & Responsibilities :

• Deliver engaging presentations about ISWAN's work and resources at maritime training institutes, workshops, maritime institutes and other industry events.
• Represent ISWAN at events, conferences, seminars, and meetings across India and South Asia.
• Develop and maintain strong networks with external sources and partners to promote ISWAN's resources and services.
• Assist with administrative tasks including drafting and maintaining high quality reports, as required, ensuring efficient operation of outreach activities.
• Collaborate closely with ISWAN's SeafarerHelp team to provide emotional and practical support to seafarers and their families in the region.
• Promote ISWAN's SEAS presentations and other initiatives to benefit cadets, seafarers and their families in the region.
• Draft quality reports on outreach activities and their impact.
• Support the development and delivery of new trainings, awareness sessions and workshops that benefit seafarers and their families.

We are looking for :

The ideal candidate should have experience in presenting and networking, preferably with a maritime background or a degree in counselling or psychology.

• Self-starter and highly motivated individual who can work in a challenging and flexible work environment and diverse team.
• Excellent presentation skills with experience in delivering to diverse audiences.
• Strong networking and interpersonal skills.
• Seafaring background or experience in the maritime industry will be an added advantage.
• A degree in counselling or psychology, with experience in mental health, is highly desirable.
• Administration skills with experience in drafting quality reports and office management.
• Analytical, resourceful, and enjoys taking the initiative to improve work processes.
• Possess good communication skills to assist seafarers and their families.
• A team player who can multitask, is energetic, and passionate about advancing the programme.
• Good stakeholder management skills and the ability to find win-win solutions.
• Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written.

Remuneration :

The selected candidate will be offered a consultancy contract for 12 months (renewable annually) and the person will be expected to work approximately 40 hours per week. The salary will be in the region of 700,000 - 780,000/- per annum based on the experience and skills of the individual.
