Currently, over 250 researchers are working with WRI India in our offices in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.Program Overview for Food, Land and Water:WRI India's Food, Land and Water program aims to inform India's transition towards sustainable and resilient food and land use systems focusing on developing interdisciplinary nature-based solutions like landscape restoration, sustainable agriculture to mitigate climate impacts, enhance jobs and livelihoods and improve nutritional security. To catalyze systems change with a focus on circular food systems in India, we also focus on developing equitable strategies to reduce food loss and food waste and mitigate climate impacts.
With broader systems change and food systems perspective, we work with diverse stakeholders like governments, businesses, civil society partners and farmer producer organizations to inform and develop land use strategies based on robust evidence and analysis to build the resilience of local communities to mitigate climate impacts, bridge capacity gaps, monitor progress, and inform a pathway to building a restoration economy for people, nature, and climate.About the Role:WRI India's Food, Land, and Water team is looking for an Intern-Sustainable Agriculture to support the programme team in field data collection, conducting secondary research, organising information logically and providing meaningful insights from it. You will travel to field sites, when it is safe to do so, for data collection. You are required to read research articles, reports, and policy documents related to agriculture to strengthen the enabling (policy) ecosystem and incentives for sustainable agriculture. You are self-motivated, able to extract and relate the right information, and demonstrate excellent attention to detail with a strong understanding of sustainability concepts. Your work will also involve supporting the programme team in organising online and offline events, attending meetings and taking notes as needed.How your day will unfold:

  • Help maintain quantitative datasets related to agriculture policies, sustainable agriculture practices (SAP) and cost of cultivation for specific crops.
  • Support analysis and interpret findings to inform ongoing research work on SAP and agriculture policies.
  • Develop or/and contribute to high-quality knowledge products (reports, policy briefs, working papers) that encapsulate research findings and communicate these to diverse audiences.
  • Participate and support different interactive partner consultations to collate, analyze and interpret the data.
Requirements and skills that we seek:
  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture/ economics or a related discipline
  • Must have strong analytical skills, along with exposure to policy research in agriculture/forestry/rural development
  • 0-1 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in English and Hindi languages
  • Effective time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and multitask
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
