We relentlessly innovate to make the prediction, prevention, and treatment of illness and disease more accessible to millions of people.Position Overview:This position is part of the Enterprise DevOps Shared Services team focused on creating service offerings around specific platform capabilities that enable development teams to improve continuous delivery of applications by applying DevOps best practices, processes, and tools across the organization.This role will be responsible for partnering with engineers in the ecosystem, peer DevOps engineers, PaaS Engineering team members, Private Cloud, and Public Cloud teams to execute on a cloud first strategy.The DevOps Engineer (Automation)understands engineering needs including those required to build, deploy, and operate a platform through all phases of its software delivery lifecycle and is focused on improving developer productivity, streamlining the current onboarding experience, and overall SDLC process that supports modern service and application engineering from idea to production.Responsibilities

  • Cignas Enterprise DevOps Engineering group is seeking a DevOps Engineer experienced in developing Automations for platforms and tooling within the SDLC ecosystem. We internally build DevOps products that are used across our IT delivery organization as well as leverage several licensed products. Critical technical skills include familiarity with Git, AWS, Linux, Artifactory, Xray and containers, as well as the common DevOps activities, practices and techniques found in highly automated environments. Critical skills include the ability to drive DevOps best practices across the team as well as plan and strategize on near-term and longer-term projects.
  • Candidates for this position will need familiarity administrating application tooling and platforms on behalf of delivery teams.They must understand the importance of quality and responsiveness in meeting customer expectations. Success in this position requires you to be a self-motivated team player and an open-minded contributor who can help the team reach it its larger goals.
  • Support CI/CD tools integration/ operations/ change management and maintenance.
  • Enhance and/or build standards and guidelines for internal users to use our tools effectively.
  • Direct interaction with internal IT community to answer questions on the best use of our tools.
  • Ownership of custom DevOps tools internally built to drive a reduction in time to market.
  • Through a hands-on approach, conduct software engineering code reviews and deliver innovative software tools, technologies, and application frameworks. Maintain deep levels of involvement in the implementation process.
  • Ask questions, take risks, and champion new ideas.
  • Business oriented and able to communicate to internal engineering customers as well as leadership.
  • Ensure adherence to existing DevOps enterprise direction and architectural strategies.
  • Function as a hands-on member of the DevOps teams - guiding & mentoring team to design, document, develop, test, deploy and maintain products and solutions.
QualificationsRequired Skills:
  • Critical technical skills include familiarity CICD tooling: Git, SonarQube AWS, Linux, Artifactory, Xray and containers, as well as the common DevOps activities, practices and techniques found in highly automated environments.
  • The ability to drive DevOps best practices across the team as well as plan and strategize on near-term and longer-term projects. Help with monitoring and alerting via COTS like Splunk and Dynatrace.
  • Possess a proven track record of continuous improvement and seeks innovative solutions in the name of lean software engineering.
  • Experience deploying and managing large-scale (3000+ users) cloud-based solutions.
  • Functional knowledge and able to develop code using Source Code Management systems within a peer reviewed code workflow via pull/merge requests.
  • Experience in developing software using languages such as Python/Typescript/Bash
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools (such as Ansible/Terraform/Helm)
  • Experience building and troubleshooting OpenShift deployments.
  • Solid knowledge of Linux, Windows OSs and containerization
Required Experience & Education:
  • 10+ years of experience in software development and application management.
  • Bachelors degree.
Desired Experience:
  • Skilled in all aspects of the container management lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools (such as Ansible or Terraform).
  • Design, implement and support application Kubernetes environments on OpenShift EKS is a bonus.
  • Experience with build tools (such as Maven, Gradle or Please).
  • Hands on experience building re-usable Infrastructure and configuration as code.
