• Position Title:
Position Overview:
• The Infection Control Nurse is responsible for implementing, managing, and evaluating infection prevention and control programs within a healthcare facility. This role focuses on minimizing the risk of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) through surveillance, staff education, policy development, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. The Infection Control Nurse works closely with healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and administrators, to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
• Infection Prevention and Surveillance:
• Conduct routine surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and monitor infection rates within the facility.
• Identify infection trends and outbreaks, implementing timely intervention strategies.
• Investigate and report outbreaks or clusters of infections, working with local and national health authorities as required.
• Policy Development and Compliance:
• Develop, review, and implement infection control policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local health regulations.
• Ensure staff adherence to infection control protocols and monitor compliance with standards from organizations like CDC, OSHA, and Joint Commission.
• Participate in quality assurance and compliance audits related to infection prevention.
• Staff Education and Training:
• Educate healthcare staff on infection prevention protocols, hand hygiene, proper use of PPE, and other relevant practices.
• Develop and deliver ongoing training programs for new hires and conduct refresher courses for existing staff.
• Promote awareness of new developments and evidence-based practices in infection control.
• Risk Assessment and Management:
• Conduct regular risk assessments to identify areas of potential infection risk within the facility.
• Develop risk mitigation plans and manage the implementation of corrective actions.
• Review and advise on infection control aspects of facility design, patient placement, and environmental cleaning.
• Data Collection and Analysis:
• Maintain accurate records of infection rates and reportable diseases, submitting necessary reports to regulatory agencies.
• Analyze data to determine trends and assess the effectiveness of infection control interventions.
• Prepare reports and presentations on infection control metrics and program achievements
Qualifications and Skills:
? Education : GNM/ B.Sc Nursing/ M.Sc Nursing (additional Nursing- related certifications are a plus).
? Experience : 4- 6 years required, as an ICN, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
Skills :
? Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
? Good communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with hospital staff, visitors, and authorities.
? Ability to handle emergencies and stressful situations.
? Knowledge of all Nursing procedures , and emergency protocols.
? Computer skills for maintaining registers and reports.
Attributes :
? Highly responsible and vigilant.
? Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and guide a team of Nursing staff.
? Ability to work independently and make quick decisions in emergencies.
? Physical fitness to perform patrols and manage Nursing-related activities.
Working Conditions:
? Full-time position, including night shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
? On-site role with regular security patrols and interactions with hospital staff and visitors.
? Availability to handle emergency situations at any time.
