Job Summary:



The Senior Nurse will lead infection control, post-cardiac recovery care, and nursing education. This role ensures top-quality patient care, guides junior staff, and collaborates with the healthcare team to implement infection protocols and specialized cardiac care. Additionally, the Senior Nurse will oversee staff training and professional development.

Key Responsibilities:



1. Infection Control:



a. Lead infection prevention efforts within the hospital or unit, ensuring all protocols and guidelines are strictly followed.

b. Develop and update infection control policies in compliance with local health authority regulations and international best practices.

c. Monitor infection rates and implement corrective actions when necessary.

d. Conduct infection control audits, and report findings to senior management, providing recommendations for improvements.

e. Train staff on infection control measures, including proper hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and sterile techniques.

f. Serve as a resource person for infection control queries and interventions.

g. To conduct regular rounds in all the departments for monitoring compliance with infection control practices related to hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment, hospital waste management, Surface disinfection, safe injection practices, needle stick injuries and compliance with bundle protocol for preventing Device Associated Infections.

f. To monitor the execution of protocols and provide guidance to staff

g. To observe any non-compliance regarding implementation of infection control practices and report the same to the Assistant Director Nursing and Infection Control Officer.

h. To ensure the availability of medical supplies needed for HIC practices.

i. To conduct educational activities for enhancing skills and knowledge regarding infection.

j. To initiate safety practices e.g. isolation of patients as necessary.

k. To supervise the health of all health care workers.

l. To ensure Hepatitis B vaccinations has been taken by all health care workers in their department and monitor their protective antibody titer.

m. To participate in unit meetings, in-service education programs and quality improvement initiatives as assigned.

n. To conduct daily surveillance of compliance with bundle protocols, hand hygiene practices and occurrence of device associated infections.

o. To participate in infection control committee meetings.

2. Post-Cardiac Recovery:



a. Oversee care of post-cardiac patients, including those recovering from surgeries such as bypass, stent placements, and valve replacements.

b. Collaborate with the cardiac care team to develop individualized care plans for patients, focusing on swift and safe recovery.

c. Monitor patients' recovery process, including vital signs, pain management, wound care, and early detection of complications.

d. Administer medications, intravenous therapy, and other treatments as prescribed by the cardiologists.

e. Educate patients and families on post-operative care, including lifestyle changes, medications, and follow-up appointments.

f. Supervise junior staff and ensure they are trained in post-cardiac care and emergency protocols.

g. To take over from staff of previous shift and hand over to staff of next shift.

3. Tutorial and Staff Development:



a. Develop and deliver educational programs for nursing staff, including in-service training sessions, workshops, and clinical tutorials.

b. Mentor and supervise junior nurses and nursing students, providing constructive feedback and professional development.

c. Collaborate with other departments to ensure ongoing clinical training and development aligns with current best practices.

d. Evaluate the learning needs of the nursing staff and create training programs to address gaps.

e. Assist in the orientation and onboarding of new nursing staff.

4. Admin Related Responsibilities:



a. Before transferring patient from department and to transfer patient at allocated bed, to ensure transfer summary is ready and allocated bed is prepared.

b. To ensure marking for billing of every service, investigation, medicine, equipment, etc. to patients

c. To play an active role in discharge process to avoid any delay in discharge - to take follow up for discharge summary, to take printouts of all reports of patients, segregation of papers in file and if mediclaim is there take out original reports and replace them by Xerox copies and sending file for billing, communicate with relatives about medicines return if any, educate the relativesabout medication, diet and physiotherapy.

d. To do process for expiry cases - to take follow up for death summary and papers for Corporation, take out all lines which attached to patients, to do sponging, body wrap with the help seniors till you get trained and with MPW and labeling it, communication with relatives about mortuary, ambulance service and coordinate with concerned department.

e. To conduct CNE arranged by nursing office and department.

5. Coordination with Doctors/ Head Nurse:



a. To inform deviations in surgical/non-surgical drains and general condition of patients to shift in charge/ doctor on duty.
b. To do participation in incidental teachings and clearing the doubts with head nurse or doctors
c. To attend Doctors rounds and carry out the orders given by consultants and intensivist.

6. Record Keeping:



a. To maintain bed sore records online
b. To do proper charting and recording
c. To maintain record of Communicable diseases like H1N1, dengue, malaria, cholera and inform to the head nurse, infection control nurse, and other respective person.

7. Inventory /Stock/Material/ Machine related:



a. To maintain inventory properly including narcotic drug

8. Add on responsibility in the Evening Shift:



a. To take care of Catheter.
b. To do follow up with CSSD for material.
c. To do parental education for NICU or PICU.

9. Add on responsibility in the Night Shift:



a. To do cleaning of patients articles in PICU and NICU
b. To take follow up of early morning orders
c. To do follow up of instruments given to different wards

10. Additional Responsibilities - Link Nurse



a. Carry out Hand Hygiene audits

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ?25,000.00 - ?50,000.00 per month
