Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Indian Chef to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of traditional Indian dishes, including curries, tandoori specialties, and other popular Indian cuisine. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking, excellent culinary skills, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook Indian dishes, including curries, tandoori specialties, biryanis, and other popular Indian cuisine
- Develop new recipes and menu ideas to keep the menu fresh and exciting
- Manage kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation
- Ensure food quality and maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen
- Supervise and train kitchen staff to ensure efficient service
- Order ingredients and supplies as needed
- Collaborate with the restaurant manager to plan menus, specials, and promotions
- Keep up-to-date with culinary trends and techniques to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience as an Indian Chef or in a related role
- Strong knowledge of Indian cuisine and cooking techniques
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent culinary skills and attention to detail
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Food safety certification and knowledge of kitchen hygiene practices
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (additional languages a plus)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Culinary degree or diploma
- Experience working in a high-end restaurant or hotel
- Knowledge of menu planning and cost control
- Familiarity with kitchen management software and systems
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced kitchen environment
- May be required to work long hours, including evenings and weekends
- May be exposed to heat, noise, and stress in the kitchen
