Job Overview:
The Head Indian Chef is responsible for overseeing the preparation, presentation, and quality of all Indian cuisine dishes at 4 The Taste . This role requires expertise in Indian vegetarian cuisine, creativity in menu development, and the ability to lead and train kitchen staff to deliver a consistently exceptional dining experience.
Key Responsibilities:Menu Development & Planning:
• Develop, refine, and update the Indian cuisine menu, ensuring authenticity, quality, and variety.
• Introduce innovative dishes while maintaining traditional Indian flavors and presentation.
• Plan seasonal or festival-specific dishes and special promotions.
Kitchen Management:
• Oversee the Indian cuisine section, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and cleanliness in the kitchen area.
• Ensure efficient use of resources, minimize wastage, and monitor inventory levels for Indian ingredients and spices.
• Coordinate with the restaurant manager for menu costing and maintaining food profitability.
Team Leadership:
• Supervise and train junior chefs and kitchen staff in the Indian section.
• Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide constructive feedback to improve team efficiency.
• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment in the kitchen.
Quality Assurance:
• Ensure that all dishes are prepared to the restaurant's standard recipes and specifications.
• Regularly taste and inspect food to maintain quality and consistency.
• Address and resolve any guest complaints related to Indian cuisine promptly and professionally.
Compliance & Safety:
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper food storage, handling, and sanitation practices.
• Ensure compliance with restaurant policies and local food safety guidelines.
Qualifications:Education & Experience:
• Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Chef specializing in Indian vegetarian dishes.
• Strong understanding of various Indian cooking techniques, spices, and ingredients.
Skills:
• Excellent cooking skills with a passion for Indian food and innovation.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage a high-volume kitchen efficiently.
Working Conditions:
• Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
