Position Summary... Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a customer environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning. What you\'ll do... About Team: Our Data&Customer Analytics (DCA) Data Science team is part of the US OMNI TECH organization of Walmart Global Tech. We are a group of data scientists, machine learning experts, and engineers with the vision of creating delightful OMNI experience as well as transforming our business. We build cutting edge AI technology, leveraging machine learning, statistics, and optimization techniques, GenAI to help reduce cost of operations. Our work cuts across various retail domains like Customer, Supply Chain, Merchandising within the US market. We partner with our product and engineering teams to drive significant measurable business impact. Advanced AI/ML algorithms/models driven by our team help Walmart to optimize business practices, reduce cost and pass those benefits to our customers. The Data Science and ML Engineering community at Walmart Global Tech is active in most of the Hack events, utilizing the petabytes of data at our disposal, to build some of the coolest ideas. All the work we do at Walmart will eventually benefit our operations & our associates, helping Customers Save Money to Live Better. What you\'ll do: As a Director of Data Science, you\'ll have the opportunity to be part of the core senior technology leadership team for the Customer Data Science group. You will be focused on experimenting and applying machine learning techniques to improve effectiveness and efficiency of data systems. This role would also be the site lead for data science/data analytics engineers spanning across domains within DCA. The successful candidate will be able influence algo development that will shape our next-gen platforms. Additionally, the role will entail the following responsibilities: Coaching and developing high-performance team: Lead several teams of data scientists and engineers to ensure business deliverables are met. Train, develop and coach managers and individual contributors on technical and professional skills. Business Thought Partnership: Provide thought leadership and counsel to stakeholders in exploring possible data solutions to address business questions and business needs. Define problem statement. Translate business requirements into data / analytic strategies, initiatives, and projects, align them to business team\'s strategy and objectives. Synthesize data from different sources, provide actionable business insights and / or analytic solution to stakeholders. Technical leadership for analytic community: Develop expertise of the data domains that are owned and / or related to the business function that this role supports. Train and coach analytic staffs in mastering technical knowledge of the respective data domains to deliver analytic solutions / insights for business stakeholders. Aside from the above, you are expected to: Adhere to Walmart\'s policies, procedures, mission, values, standards of ethics and integrity. Adopt to Walmart\'s quality standards, develop/recommend process standards and best practices across the retail industry. What you\'ll bring: Bachelors/Masters/PhD from a reputed institution Minimum of 15+ years of data science experience Demonstrated history of technology leadership and strong hands-on experience Proven records of scientific publications or intellectual property generation Experience in strong programming skills across big data and ML engineering stack Strong communication skills with inclination to high ownership and commitment Experience in retail is an added plus(especially retail customer domain) Experience in GenAI is an added plus.
