The Ice and Food Carver will be responsible for creating stunning ice sculptures and food carvings that enhance the visual appeal of buffets, events, and dining experiences. This individual will also ensure the overall presentation of food displays aligns with the aesthetic standards of the establishment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ice and Food Carving:
• Carve intricate and artistic designs from ice and food items (fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, etc.) to enhance the visual appeal of buffet setups and special events.
• Maintain a high level of creativity and attention to detail when designing and executing carvings.
• Ensure that all carvings are safe, hygienic, and meet the quality standards of the establishment.
• Buffet and Display Presentation:
• Oversee the presentation and aesthetic arrangement of food displays, buffets, and other culinary setups.
• Work closely with the culinary team to ensure that the food carvings complement the overall buffet design.
• Ensure all food displays are organized, clean, and visually appealing, enhancing the guest dining experience.
• Collaborate with event managers and other departments for themed events or special occasions.
• Maintenance and Cleanliness:
• Maintain tools and equipment used for carving, ensuring they are kept in proper working order and cleaned regularly.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of ice sculptures and food carvings to prevent wastage and maintain hygiene standards.
• Creativity & Innovation:
• Continuously research and introduce new carving techniques and trends to improve the visual appeal of food displays.
• Contribute new ideas for themed events and special occasions, helping create memorable dining experiences.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience as an Ice and Food Carver or similar role in a culinary environment.
• In-depth knowledge of ice carving techniques and food carving skills.
• Strong artistic ability with attention to detail and creativity.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines during high-volume events or buffets.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work in a cold environment when carving ice.
• Ability to stand for long periods and perform manual tasks.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy ice blocks and food items.
