With minimal supervision, performs advanced functions requiring knowledge and use of electronic applications, standards and document control processes/procedures in support of creating and modifying deliverables. May provide technical guidance and direction to other engineering professionals including delegation of work assignments.Key ResponsibilitiesApplies knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes and Black and Veatch policies and procedures

• Become familiar with the Contract Scope of Work, specifications, schedule and all inter-discipline requirements, including identifying concerns as early as practicable. Maintain \xd0\xb0 filing system for various drawings and documents as directed by the Senior Designer \xe2\x80\xa2 Recognize changes to scope and notify the Discipline Lead Designer \xe2\x80\xa2 Interface with all disciplines to develop clash free designs. \xe2\x80\xa2 Interface with other disciplines to obtain input for Discipline designs and drawings. \xe2\x80\xa2 Liaise with other discipline support groups to ensure clearly defined interfaces, deliverables and schedules are met. \xe2\x80\xa2 Document substantive communications (communications that result in significant decisions or assignment of actions), and forward copies to Discipline Lead Designer and Discipline Supervisor \xe2\x80\xa2 Assist Discipline Lead Designer in preparing estimates for proposals and job scope changes. \xe2\x80\xa2 Review all project design documentation for detail technical interfaces. \xe2\x80\xa2 Research Customer standards and procedures in order to prepare project-specific design procedures and standards for submission to the Customer for approval. \xe2\x80\xa2 Set up the Discipline Master design drawing and document files. \xe2\x80\xa2 Prepare Discipline deliverables such as: \xe2\x80\xa2 Detailed design drawings \xe2\x80\xa2 As-built drawings \xe2\x80\xa2 Review drawings issued by other disciplines and in-corporate the required data into Discipline drawings. \xe2\x80\xa2 Review vendor drawings and documents and incorporate required vendor data into Discipline drawings and documents. \xe2\x80\xa2 Perform design verification through single discipline checks (SDC) and assist with inter-discipline checks (IDC), providing comments to Lead Designer \xe2\x80\xa2 Prepare, issue and update material and weight data take-offs. \xe2\x80\xa2 Assist Fabrication as required in the resolution of construction difficulties relating to design problems, clashes, etc. \xe2\x80\xa2 Monitor progress and maintain the deliverables register on an ongoing basis. \xe2\x80\xa2 Ensure compliance with the Project Execution Plan and the timely completion and archiving of drawings and documents. \xe2\x80\xa2 Keep Lead Designer and/or Senior Designer apprised of all activities, progress and concerns. \xe2\x80\xa2 Participate in design reviews and audits. \xe2\x80\xa2 Capture lessons learned and enter into MDR\'s Lessons Learned system. \xe2\x80\xa2 Develop basic understanding of MDR\'s business and customers it serves. \xe2\x80\xa2 Prepare Instrument Design deliverables such as: \xe2\x80\xa2 Layout drawings \xe2\x80\xa2 Instrument hook-up / installation details \xe2\x80\xa2 Wiring / loop diagrams \xe2\x80\xa2 Panel and console drawings \xe2\x80\xa2 Instrument drawing lists \xe2\x80\xa2 Logic Diagrams \xe2\x80\xa2 Shutdown hierarchy drawings \xe2\x80\xa2 Schematics and block diagrams \xe2\x80\xa2 Material schedules \xe2\x80\xa2 Assist in the preparation of 3D models. \xe2\x80\xa2 Ensure work is in compliance with MDR and project QA and/or QC systems and procedures. \xe2\x80\xa2 Apply basic technical skills and knowledge to complete assigned work. \xe2\x80\xa2 Continue developing skills to efficiently complete repetitive tasks. \xe2\x80\xa2 Manage own time to meet deadlines set by others.

Management ResponsibilitiesPreferred Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of construction and constructability practices and principles
• Basic knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides related to assigned engineering discipline

Minimum QualificationsAll applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

• High School graduate with a diploma in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Design, or Drafting in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
• 5 to 14 years of experience.
