Objectives:
• Facilitate a Creative and Supportive Learning Environment: Create an atmosphere where students feel empowered to explore and express their ideas while encouraging a sense of community and collaboration.
• Teach Important Reading, Writing, and English Language Skills: Equip students with essential literacy skills necessary for academic success and lifelong learning.
• Help Students Master Grade-Level Learning Objectives: Guide students in achieving academic proficiency while nurturing their critical thinking and analytical abilities.
• Prepare Differentiated Lesson Plans: Tailor lesson plans to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to excel.
• Foster Motivation, Resilience, and Intellectual Curiosity: Inspire students to develop a growth mindset, resilience in the face of challenges, and a genuine passion for learning.
• Cultivate an Appreciation for Literature and Language Arts: Instill in students a love for literature and language by exposing them to a diverse range of literary works and encouraging meaningful engagement with texts.
Responsibilities:
• Impart Critical English Language Skills: Engage students in thought-provoking discussions and activities aimed at honing their language proficiency and analytical thinking.
• Pose Open-Ended Questions: Stimulate higher-level thinking by prompting students to explore complex ideas and develop their own interpretations.
• Create Engaging Lesson Plans: Design dynamic and interactive lessons that spark student interest and foster active participation.
• Employ Diverse Learning Materials: Utilise a variety of resources that reflect diverse perspectives and experiences, promoting inclusivity and cultural awareness.
• Assess Student Progress: Regularly assess student learning through a combination of observation, assessment tasks, and constructive feedback to inform instructional decisions.
• Communicate Classroom Culture: Establish clear expectations, norms, and procedures to create a positive and productive learning environment.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Exceptional Command of the English Language: Proficiency in English grammar, vocabulary, and syntax, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas.
• Engagement Skills: Ability to captivate students' interest and maintain their engagement through dynamic teaching methods and activities.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey information and provide feedback to students and parents.
• Knowledge of Grade-Level Learning Objectives: Familiarity with curriculum standards and learning goals relevant to the high school English curriculum.
• Teaching Certification: Valid teaching certification or licence in English.
• Experience in Cambridge or IB Curriculum: Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching high school English in an IGCSE (CAIE) or International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum setting.
• Advanced Degree: Master's degree or higher in English, demonstrating a strong academic background and expertise in the subject matter.
