Job Description

Role Overview:

The High Voltage Hardware Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing high voltage components for electric vehicles, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and reliability standards. This role requires extensive experience in component selection, PCB layout, and hardware design analysis.


The engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that drive our electric vehicle technology forward.


Key Responsibilities:

• Component Selection: Identify and select appropriate high voltage components, including power semiconductors, capacitors, and connectors, ensuring they meet design specifications and industry standards. Evaluate and qualify components for performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• PC B Layout Oversight: Oversee the design and layout of PCBs for high voltage applications, ensuring optimal routing, signal integrity, and thermal management. Collaborate with PCB designers to implement best practices and design guidelines for high voltage circuits.
• Hardware Design and Analysis: Develop and optimize hardware designs for high voltage systems, including power distribution units, inverters, and battery management systems. Perform detailed analysis and simulations to validate hardware designs, including thermal, electrical, and mechanical analysis. Conduct failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) to identify and mitigate potential risks in hardware designs.
• Prototyping and Testing: Lead the prototyping and testing of high voltage hardware components, ensuring they meet design and performance criteria. Collaborate with the testing team to develop and execute test plans, analyze test results, and implement necessary design modifications.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with software, mechanical, and system engineering ng teams to ensure seamless integration of high voltage hardware components into the overall electric vehicle system. Provide technical guidance and support to manufacturing and quality assurance teams during production and validation phases.


Qualifications:



Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering or a related field. Proven experience in high voltage hardware design, preferably in the automotive or electric vehicle industry.
• Strong knowledge of high voltage component selection, PCB design, and hardware analysis techniques. Proficiency in using design and simulation tools such as Altium, Cadence, PSpice, or similar.
• Experience with thermal management, EMI/EMC considerations, and safety standards for high voltage systems. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:



Experience with electric vehicle powertrain systems, including inverters, chargers, and battery management systems.



Knowledge of automotive standards and regulations related to high voltage systems. Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing high voltage hardware components.
