Job Summary:

The HR Compliance & Audit Officer ensures the organization's HR policies, procedures, and programs comply with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. This role involves conducting audits, identifying risks, and implementing corrective actions to enhance compliance and mitigate risk.

### Key Responsibilities:

1. Compliance Management:

- Develop, implement, and monitor HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

- Stay updated on changes in employment laws and ensure the organization's HR practices reflect these changes.

- Advise management on necessary actions to remain compliant with legal and regulatory requirements.

2. Audit & Risk Management:

- Conduct regular audits of HR processes, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits, and employee relations.

- Identify and assess areas of potential risk and implement corrective actions.

- Develop and maintain an HR audit calendar to ensure timely and thorough reviews.

3. Documentation & Reporting:

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all compliance activities and audits.

- Prepare detailed audit reports with findings, recommendations, and action plans.

- Present audit results to senior management and provide actionable insights for improvement.

4. Training & Development:

- Develop and deliver training programs for HR staff and management on compliance-related topics.

- Ensure all employees are aware of their responsibilities concerning compliance and ethical behavior.

- Monitor the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments.

5. Investigation & Resolution:

- Investigate compliance issues, complaints, and incidents.

- Coordinate with legal counsel as needed to address complex compliance issues.

- Implement corrective actions and follow-up to ensure issues are resolved satisfactorily.

6. Continuous Improvement:

- Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance compliance and reduce risk.

- Implement best practices in HR compliance and audit procedures.

- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to compliance across the organization.

### Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.

- Minimum of 8 years of experience in HR compliance, audit, or a related field.

- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

### Working Conditions:

- Office environment with occasional travel to other company locations.

- Regular full-time position with standard business hours; additional hours may be required to meet deadlines or during audits.
