• manages horticultural staff and is responsible for the maintenance and development of horticultural sites
• Staff management: Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate horticultural staff
• Maintenance: Maintain inventory, maintenance records, and work schedules
• Site development: Plan and implement propagation, develop maintenance programs, and schedule work
• Plant care: Apply pruning and training techniques, choose growing media, and maintain trees, shrubs, and other soft landscape elements
• Irrigation: Use and maintain irrigation systems to ensure accurate and timely water application
• Contracts: Tender bids on contracts, plan and estimate materials and labor requirements, and resolve work-related problems
• Reports: Prepare and submit progress and other reports
• Records: Maintain financial and personnel records
• Supplies: Requisition supplies and materials
