ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:I. Plan, Develop and Implement:Design, deliver and evaluate lessons which stimulate and motivate student learningPlan and prepare clear Visual Arts curriculum and content and align the same with IBMYP/Cambridge/ICSE curriculumThe approach of the curriculum should be interdisciplinary and the teacher should ensure that the students in the MYP program engage in at least one collaboratively planned interdisciplinary unit that involve at least two subject groupsBreak the lesson plan as per the set curriculumAnalyse the results of the previous year and plan the teaching objectives accordinglyPlan and implement effective assessment for/of learning which enhances outcomes for studentsImplement inquiry-based teaching and learning to convey knowledge, conceptual understandings and required skills to the students and respond to student inquiries and provide meaningful adviceII. Teaching approach:Create a warm fostering environment in the classroom that facilitates learningTo ensure that the children experience a broad, balanced, relevant and stimulating learning experiencePlan and prepare learning activities and guide students towards the achievement of curriculum objectivesUse a range of instructional techniques and media consistent with available resources and student needs and capabilitiesExpand the students\' use of individual and collaborative strategies to generate concepts and ideasIncorporate new technologies and tools in the creative processTeach students how to identify elements of art and design and apply them to create conceptsEnhance the students\' knowledge of visual arts and media through art theory and historyDevelop an aesthetic understanding and appreciation that allows students to make qualitative judgments about artEnable students to create a functional portfolio of their art worksPlan, coordinate and prepare art displays and exhibitions for the school and communityNurture meaningful relationships with students and provide the individual attention they needApply elements of design and modern principles of artWork creatively with available materials/ resourcesLiaise with the Head of department and curriculum coordinators to ensure effective delivery of the curriculum to specified classes, including selecting resources and managing them efficiently in the classroomCollaborate with other secondary teachers and curriculum coordinators to deliver an interdisciplinary curriculum and share new ideas, approaches and professional knowledgeSelect and requisition books, instructional materials, tools, instructional aids, and maintain required inventory recordsThe activities / project work and experiences need to be adapted keeping in view the individual differences among children and their innate potentials, as well as the students with special needsRemedial classes should be taken to strengthen the students learning wherever requiredMaintain high ethical standards and display integrity at all timesA variety of teaching strategies supporting the development of ATL skills are to be included for facilitating a holistic view of the area of Dance (ATL skills include - Communication, Thinking, Social, Self-management, Research)III. Assessment and Feedback:Plan and implement effective assessment for/of learning which enhances outcomes for studentsEncouraging students to think and talk about their learning, develop selfcontrol and independence, concentrate and persevere, and listen attentivelyAssess students and provide both formative and summative evaluationsSummative assessment are to be planned to assess the performance portfolio, based on the design assessment criteria and strandsFormative assessments are to be planned in accordance with the nature of the subject and implemented in a systematic manner to help students identify their strengths and weaknesses and target areas that need focusClosely monitor the student projects and guide wherever necessaryProvide oral and written feedback to students and other stakeholdersUpdate the current status of the unit completion to the parallel teachers, head of the department and the section coordinatorReceive and implement the feedback received from the section coordinator and the head of the departmentEvaluate and review their own teaching methods, materials and unit plans, and make changes as appropriateTeachers performance shall be measure based on the evidence of students knowledge, conceptual understanding and skills developed during the teaching and learning processIV. Documentation:Maintain accurate records of student progress in line with departmental and school policyMaintain appropriate records to demonstrate progress made by studentsTo assess, record and report on the attendanceV. Behaviour and Safety:Establishing a safe, purposeful and stimulating environment for students, rooted in mutual respect and establish a framework for discipline with a range of strategies, using praise, sanctions and rewards consistently and fairlyManaging classes effectively, using approaches which are appropriate to students needs in order to inspire, motivate and challenge studentsMaintaining good relationships with students and exercising appropriate authorityBeing a positive role model and demonstrating consistently the required traits and attitudesHaving high expectations of behaviour, promoting self-control and independence of all learnersBeing responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children within the school, raising any concerns following school protocol/proceduresVI.
