Start Date: July 2025 Position Overview:
Good Shepherd International School (GSIS) is seeking an experienced and dynamic educator to lead the IBDP English department and contribute significantly to the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) program. The ideal candidate will bring over 10 years of teaching experience, a passion for the International Baccalaureate (IB) pedagogy, and a commitment to academic excellence and holistic education. Key Responsibilities:
1. Academic Leadership:
• Lead the IBDP English department, ensuring alignment with IB philosophy, standards, and practices.
• Mentor and support a team of English teachers to deliver high-quality instruction and achieve outstanding student outcomes.
• Oversee curriculum planning, development, and implementation in line with IBDP requirements.
2. Teaching:
• Teach IBDP English Language & Literature or Literature, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and a love for language among students.
• Deliver engaging TOK lessons, integrating interdisciplinary approaches and promoting philosophical inquiry.
3. Coordination and Collaboration:
• Act as a liaison between the English department, TOK faculty, and school leadership.
• Collaborate with the Extended Essay Coordinator and supervisors to guide students in developing excellent research and writing skills.
• Participate in regular meetings, workshops, and professional development sessions to enhance departmental and personal growth.
4. Assessment and Reporting:
• Ensure effective formative and summative assessment practices in English and TOK.
• Monitor and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to students and parents.
5. Professional Development:
• Stay abreast of current trends in IB education, English literature, language studies, and TOK pedagogy.
• Organize and facilitate in-house training sessions for faculty to build capacity in delivering the IB curriculum.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Education: A Master's degree in English, Literature, Education, or a related field (required); additional qualifications in IB Education are highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum 10 years of teaching experience, with at least 5 years in an IBDP English teaching role; prior leadership experience is preferred.
• TOK Expertise: Demonstrable experience in teaching or coordinating the Theory of Knowledge program.
• IB Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the IB Diploma Program framework, including assessment criteria and pedagogical approaches.
• Skills: Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to inspire and lead a team.
