Position DescriptionBusiness Division: CSM AgchemDepartment: Technology AbsorptionLocation: VDRPosition Title: Head - Technology Absorption GroupLevel: Senior ManagementReporting To: COO-CSMPosition PurposeThe Head - Technology Absorption Group ( TAG) is a leadership role responsible for Technology development , scale up and transfer for successful commercialization and includes cost-efficient delivery of end-to-end process development, scale-up & commercialization of molecules right from feasibility studies, scale-up studies, technology transfer (process & engineering design) and project management till successful process handover at commercial scale. This role is also responsible for identifying new cutting edge technologies , their implementation and ensuring continuous improvement through cost reduction and trouble-shooting in ongoing operations.Strategic Responsibilities

  • Recommend a technology roadmap for PI to drive efficient scale-up & commercialization of molecules through activities including but not limited to:
  • Maintaining awareness of industry and technology trends to ensure PI's readiness in development efforts to supply new and innovative offerings.
  • Researching and recommending new technologies/systems and assessing their possible implementation at pilot/ commercial level
  • Driving continuous improvement to achieve cost effective delivery of customer orders right from lab to commercial scale
  • Creating a technology-led competitive advantage so as to leverage market intelligence & competitive information to proactively drive new business opportunities for PI
  • Drive cost reduction led by chemistry optimization, basic & detailed engineering design & efficient project execution
  • Build organizational capability & expertise for PI to remain agile & dynamic to adopt new & advanced technologies to sustain its competitive position.
  • Identify tools and technology to adapt digital transformation in Technology development and create road map for Industry 5.0.
Operational Responsibilities
  • Ensure customer requirements/ needs are captured accurately and delivered as per the plan.
  • Collaborate with Process Research Team to monitor and review process development periodically and provide inputs.
  • Guide and support Asset planning team for efficient assets planning to derive capital efficiencies.
  • Collaborate and help BD team with Technical inputs to derive the product costings.
  • Assist and advice the strategic cost reduction team in implementing cost saving initiatives
  • Oversee operations of KL/ PP to verify the processes on pilot scale and development of data required for design of commercial scale plants
  • Lead the smooth hand over of process to operations team post completion of process development & detailed engineering design
  • Monitor troubleshooting activities in the current commercial operations & identify root causes and recommend actions to resolve the issues.
  • Oversee execution of capital projects within specified quality, time and cost.
  • Ensure all compliance requirements including but not limited to, Environment, Health, Safety, Quality and People are met for the Technology Absorption function while implementing the processes.
Financial Responsibilities
  • Maintaining budget; establish timelines; provide updates to top leadership.

  • Ensure achievement of cost saving initiatives to achieve targeted savings in targeted time frames.
People Responsibilities
  • Recommend initiatives for building requisite skills & competencies through focused professional development and capability building initiatives for the Technology Absorption function
  • Review workforce capacity gaps within the Technology Absorption function and ensure timely recruitment in alignment with Corporate HR policies
  • Actively sponsor, in conjunction with the Senior Management Team, the performance management process of the team
  • Ensure stability & sustainability through a robust succession planning process to meet current & future staffing requirements in the Technology Absorption function
  • Recognize & reward excellent performers & affirm key contributions of employees toward the achievement of goals & objectives of the function
  • Inspire & motivate employees through demonstrated commitment to PI's values, vision & mission and exemplifying effective leadership, initiative and persistence needed to accomplish goals and objectives
Education Qualification
  • B.E/B.Tech in Chemical Engineering
  • PhD (Chemicals)
Work Experience15-20 years of experience in managing Technology/ R&D functionsIndustry to be Hired fromAgro-Pharma-Fine-ChemicalsFunctional Competencies
  • Business understanding and ability to apply technological knowledge to product development
  • Proven ability to conduct lab scale and scale up studies
  • Strong experience of managing plant operations and troubleshooting

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and validate technologies for strategic and commercial fit
