About the Role
Major Accountabilities Strategic Leadership:
Develop, refine, and execute LBS strategy and short- and long-term operations plan. Be trusted partner to Novartis Legal function and help design a strategic roadmap that addresses technology adoption, standardization, and process changes.
As a strategic thinker should see the bigger picture and be capable of planning how Legal & Assurance Solutions (LAS) can evolve to support the Novartis Legal function to meet its objectives. Upskill LBS team to better engage with key colleagues driving these strategic priorities.
Functional/Domain Leadership:
Bring-in hands on Contract management, Legal technology and Legal Operations functional experience to pivot current offerings to the next level; and become trusted partner to the Legal function.
Deliver efficient contract management services, improve turnaround times, reduce risk, drive standardization, and improve access to contract data with use of effective contract management processes and technologies.
Deliver M&A (pre & post deal) related services efficiently and cost-effectively undertaking due diligence, contract review and repapering, separation, and post-M&A integration to support M&A and Transactions pipeline of Novartis.
Design and deliver Legal Operations Services including benchmarking, spend analytics, matter management, knowledge management, e-Billing and related services.
Legal Technology:
Design, develop and implement legal technology solutions in Contract Lifecycle Management, M&A, Legal Operations, and other legal business services.
Drive effective communication, change management, and deployment to drive user adoption.
Deliver legal technology programs by managing all aspects of legal technology implementation, e.g., budgeting & forecasting, optimizing resource allocation, strict adherence to quality processes, governance, and effective colleague engagement.
Stay up to date on legal technology landscape and advise colleagues in assessing relevant platforms for contract management, content management, legal operations, e-signature, compliance management and corporate secretarial practice.
Trusted Partner:
Act with credibility and clarity of purpose to build and maintain effective relationships with novartis colleagues and fortify Legal and Assurance Solutions position as a trusted partner for innovative solutions and large-scale legal transformation programs that drive impactful change across the Novartis.
Collaborate proficiently to elicit and unify requirements, fostering consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.
Business and Financial Management:
Build robust operating strategy and organization design by identifying improvement opportunities. Ensure functional insights and financial indicators are incorporated into business decisions.
Develop and implement the operating model and budget to ensure it aligns with the net operating margin targets for the LBS capability group.
Manage key performance indicators and metrics (such as Excellent Colleague Experience, Net Promoter Score, Delivery Timelines, Employee Engagement, etc.) to ensure they align with capability group targets.
Continuously seek opportunities to achieve growth and maximize Legal Business Services success.
Lead global teams to achieve superior results in a purpose driven work environment:
Create an inspiring purpose and direction of the team connected to impact of Legal Business Services on the patients, organization at large and Legal function specifically.
Build strong functional capabilities within the team to support overall strategy. Upskill resources based on three-year strategic plan.
Ensure effective development (development/training plans, Organizational Talent Review, coaching or mentoring, as appropriate) and performance (objectives setting and performance review) management of all assigned associates collaborating closely with other capability group leaders, as appropriate.

P&L ownership of LBS capability group delivering on net operating margin.
