Head AnaesthesiaJob Responsibilities:1) As a Coordinator of Anaesthesia services you have the authority and responsibility for directing the administration of all anaesthesia services, including anaesthesia and analgesia throughout the hospital.2) Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining policies and procedures related to the Department.3) Responsible for administrative oversight of the department.4) Responsible for monitoring and reviewing sedation and anaesthesia services.5) Responsibility for evaluating the quality and appropriateness of the anaesthesia patient care as part of the hospital\'s ongoing quality program.6) Will adhere with the policies which enable anaesthesia services to be delivered in a manner that is consistent with the resources and need of the hospital viz.a) Patient consentb) Infection control measuresc) Safety practices in all anaesthesia areasd) Emergencye) Reporting incidencesf) Documentation requirementsg) Equipment requirements, as well as monitoring, inspection, testing and maintenance of all Anesthesia equipment with the help of OT technician and the biomedical department.h) Delineation of pre and post-anesthesia staff responsibilities.6) Interview patients to learn their medical histories and examine patients and perform diagnostic test to determine whether they are strong enough for surgery.7) Consult with doctors and surgeons about the type and amount of drugs to administer before and during surgery or another procedure.8) Explain to patient surgical methods and effect of drugs.9) Administer drugs before procedures and position patients on operating tables.10) Each dose and unit of dose of medication given during procedure to be recorded with date and time.11) Stand next to patient during surgery, monitoring their vital signs and adjusting medications as required.12) Decides when the patients are stable enough to be moved from the operating room.13) Keep record of drug doses and patient responses throughout the process.14) Schedule operating rooms, and make sure they are sterile and organized.15) Responsible to obtain and document in patient\'s record the informed consent prior to initiation of any procedure, surgical or otherwise.16) Responsible in certifying instrument performance, developing and implementing analytical procedures, evaluating data and reporting key results.Quality:1) Responsible for maintaining standards by participating in hospital Quality assurance programs.2) Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and redesigning processes and upgrading quality controls.3) Work compliance as per JCI standardsInventory: Maintains department supplies, inventory by checking stocks to determine inventory levels anticipating needed supplies.MIS: Maintains hospital information system by identifying information needs and problems and recommending improvements, maintains confidentiality of the information.Education:1) Responsible for training and supervising junior doctors and other healthcare professionals in the hospital.2) Active participation in CME to stay up to date on Anesthesia research and technical innovations. Undertaking relevant human resources activities.1) Responsible for scheduling and assigning responsibilities to the employees in the department.2) Conducting technical training for the department.3) Conducting performance appraisals for personnel in the department and proposing increments or promotions for them.4) Any other jobs assigned by a superior due to exigencies of work.
