Job Description

The Accountant will manage the financial transactions and records of the stationery shop. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy of the shop's financial data, preparing reports, handling payroll, and overseeing daily accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and experience in retail accounting.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Record Management
• Maintain and update accurate financial records, including accounts payable and receivable.
• Record daily sales, purchases, and expenses.
• Reconcile bank statements and shop transactions regularly.
• Inventory Costing & Management
• Track and record inventory purchases.
• Monitor inventory costs and adjust pricing when necessary.
• Work with the inventory manager to prevent shortages and manage stock levels effectively.
• Invoicing and Billing
• Generate invoices for bulk orders and corporate clients.
• Process payments from clients and suppliers promptly.
• Manage receivables and follow up on outstanding invoices.
• Payroll & Expenses
• Calculate employee salaries, deductions, and process payroll on time.
• Record and manage business expenses, ensuring cost efficiency.
• Reporting & Analysis
• Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Analyze financial data to provide insights and recommendations for cost savings and profitability.
• Tax Compliance
• Calculate and file taxes (e.g., sales tax, VAT) as required by local regulations.
• Maintain tax records and support the owner in annual tax filings and audits.
• Budgeting and Forecasting
• Assist in preparing budgets and forecasting financial performance.
• Monitor expenses against the budget and provide variance analysis.
• Internal Controls and Auditing
• Ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures.
• Conduct periodic audits of financial records and transactions.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Experience: 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in retail or similar industries.
• Skills:
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, Excel).
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of retail inventory management is a plus.
• Familiarity with tax regulations applicable to retail businesses.

Working Conditions

• Schedule: Typically, Monday to Saturday, with occasional overtime during busy periods.
• Physical Requirements: Light physical activities; may require occasional lifting of accounting records or files.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ?20,000.00 - ?25,000.00 per month
