Responsibilities
Plans are created for machining by examining engineering plans, work orders, blueprints, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, surface locations, and machining parameters; these are then translated into geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
Plans stock inventory by weighing available stock, estimating required stock, placing and completing orders for stock, and so on.
Programmes mills and lathes by inputting commands, establishing compensation, conditional switches, offsets, zeros, and reference points; figuring out prerequisites, such as trigonometry, geometry, and fundamental math; demonstrating partial programmes.
Installs and adjusts tools, accessories, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, stock pushers, and three- and four-jaw chucks. It also indicates vices and tramms heads.
