Job Overview:
Hopetown Girls' School is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Global Studies teacher for the A Level (Cambridge) curriculum. The ideal candidate will have expertise in contemporary global issues, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary approaches to topics like economics, politics, culture, and the environment. The teacher will inspire students to think critically about global challenges and equip them with the tools needed to become informed global citizens.
Key Responsibilities:
• Curriculum Planning and Delivery:
• Teach and deliver thought-provoking lessons in A Level Global Studies, in accordance with the Cambridge curriculum.
• Develop comprehensive lesson plans that integrate current events, case studies, and global perspectives on key issues such as human rights, international relations, sustainability, and global conflict.
• Use innovative teaching strategies, including debates, research projects, and multimedia presentations, to engage students in meaningful discussions.
• Student Engagement and Support:
• Foster a stimulating learning environment that encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and active participation.
• Provide individual support and feedback to students to ensure understanding of complex global issues and topics.
• Encourage students to participate in extracurricular activities related to global studies, such as Model United Nations (MUN), global awareness clubs, and field trips.
• Assessment and Evaluation:
• Design and administer formative and summative assessments to measure student understanding and progress.
• Provide constructive feedback and conduct regular reviews of student performance, preparing them for the A Level Global Studies exams.
• Professional Development and Collaboration:
• Stay updated on changes and trends in global studies education and integrate new ideas into the curriculum.
• Collaborate with other departments and staff members to promote interdisciplinary approaches to learning.
• Participate in professional development opportunities, including workshops and conferences, to enhance teaching skills and subject knowledge.
• Classroom Management:
• Maintain an organized and respectful classroom environment, ensuring students feel supported and safe.
• Implement discipline strategies in line with school policies to manage classroom behavior and maintain focus on learning.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Educational Requirements:
• Master's Degree in Global Studies, International Relations, Political Science, Sociology, or a related field (a teaching certification is preferred).
• Experience:
• At least 3-5 years of teaching experience at the high school level, ideally with A Level or international curriculum experience in Global Studies or related subjects.
• In-depth understanding of the Cambridge A Level Global Studies curriculum and examination process.
• Key Skills:
• Strong knowledge of global issues, international relations, and current events.
• Ability to engage students in critical discussions about complex topics, encouraging diverse viewpoints and analytical thinking.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficient in using technology to support teaching and learning, including digital platforms and multimedia tools.

• Experience in extracurricular activities such as MUN, debates, and global awareness initiatives is a plus.
