Responsibilities

As a result of continued growth, we have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Network Engineer to join our global team, to provide specialist support and lifecycle management for enterprise scale network and connectivity services across our on-premises and cloud infrastructure.

Global Infrastructure are responsible for the lifecycle management of the mission critical platforms that underpin our highly demanding products, platforms, and services. To support direction and growth, the team requires a breadth and depth of skills and experience to respond to the demands of a growing business whilst maintaining availability of our core systems.

The Global Infrastructure Network Engineer will need to possess a strong technical ability, as well as ability to coach/mentor others in the team, primarily focussed on core networking and connectivity services hosted in our Data Centres, branch offices, and other sites.

You will need to have experience working in a fast-paced environment and able to prioritise tasks that contribute to the delivery of project workstreams, BAU activities, and response to incidents.

You will be tenacious and passionate, with the ability to take ownership of tasks whilst managing your time effectively, and prioritising tasks to meet deadlines. You will maintain excellent attention to detail and have a logical approach to solving problems under pressure and an active communicator on technical issues that affect client delivery.

In addition to your technical skillset, you will be experienced in executing standard changes in a controlled manner, following company procedures, and ensuring we maintain high standards across the team.

The role requires you to have the ability to communicate clearly and with impact in a fast-paced and high-pressure situations including the ability to challenge and influence the view of senior stakeholders respectfully, confidently, and effectively to bring a new perspective.

Tasks (what does the role do on a day-to-day basis)

Undertake the support of networks, covering routine housekeeping/maintenance/backup duties, configuration management, change management and problem management.

Assist in the strategic planning and development of new Network communications services

Project manage the assessment, planning and implementation of communication networks

Undertake the development, planning, and implementation of communication networks

Provide advice and consultancy on the procurement, implementation, operation, and maintenance of communication networks.

Take day-to-day responsibility for specific development work on network and business critical IT systems

Diagnose and troubleshoot wireless, security, switching, and other various network-related issues reported by internal customers and technology colleagues

Own each customer case from initial creation to resolution

Collaborate with other support team members to fix network outages, misconfigurations, and complex networking issues within the data centre, branch offices, and on end user devices

Read and analyse packet captures using networking tools and applications

Work with engineering and management to diagnose and resolve critical, escalated issues

Use acquired knowledge to suggest, edit, and write in-depth Knowledge Base articles

Stay up to date on Meraki features and technology by attending lunch and learns, participating in engineering and product team communication, and keeping up with enterprise and cloud networking trends

Required Experience

Education / professional qualifications

Graduate degree, preferably in IT related disciplines

Graduate degree, preferably in IT related disciplines

Professional certifications such as PMP, ITIL or equivalent

Background experience

Fundamental understanding of and hands-on experience with network technologies including firewalls, content filters, routing/switching, VLANs, and 802.11a/b/g/n/ac wireless.

Thorough comprehension of fundamental networking protocols including TCP, STP, ARP, Ethernet, OSPF, etc.

Experience supporting or testing LANs, VLANs, WLANs, VPNs, NAT devices, &/or DHCP servers.

Experience installing and troubleshooting WiFi networks

Ability to clearly and concisely articulate matters to third parties.

Outstanding customer service skills

Excellent account management, follow-through, and attention to detail

Experience in computer networking related problem solving, critical thinking, and troubleshooting

Ability to multitask and work under pressure.

Networking certifications a plus: CCNA, CCNP, CWNA, etc

Company, product, and market knowledge

Experience of working in a complex, multi-country professional services, financial services or BPO organisation with complex processing requirements preferred but not essential

Multi-country experience and demonstrates an ability to work in a multi-cultural, talented, and demanding team environment

Possess the skills and the personality to operate effectively in a very fast-paced complex global business with an in-depth knowledge of program management

Excellent communication skills in both written and oral form, with staff members, customers, suppliers, and the management team with the ability to make decisions, act and get results

Languages

Fully proficient spoken and written English, additional European languages will be an asset
