Description

The Global Customs Classification Analyst will ensure Product Customs classification is carried out diligently in his/her role as subject matter expert. He/She will be responsible and ensure Global and Country specific regulations are followed in the classification of materials, software, and technology under the Hitachi Energy Product Portfolio.

The Global Customs Classification Analyst is responsible for:

  • Research and determine the HS/HTS and ECN/ECCN classification as per country laws and regulations for Commodities (finished goods, equipment, raw materials), Software, and technology.
  • Review Master Data and initiate classifications with quality (Identifying the incorrect classifications, Mass/Bulk classifications per the country priority)
  • Liaison with Product Classification Engineers, Product Engineers and understand technologies, and software (product description, HTS code, ECN/ECCN numbers) and/or technical inputs to substantiate classifications
  • Maintain appropriate recordkeeping to support classification determinations, Preparation & Presentation of Product Classification Reports
  • Monitor the tariff changes content and assess the impact on our business and share this information with CTCOs and key stakeholders accordingly. Also maintaining the SharePoint
  • Update & Maintain the Customs Rulings/Binding Tariff Information (BTI) tracker and submit binding rulings when necessary and applicable in the Global Trade Share Point folder
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process supporting documents. Conduct periodic sessions on the current performance and identify process fixes for areas of improvement
  • MDF vs HTS mapping:
- Check the MDF codes and Identify the incorrect MDF codes tagged to the products

- Notify the commodity management team on a monthly basis of incorrect MDF tagging

- Maintain the MDF vs HTS mapping tables
  • Lead to support Users to navigate the Thomson Reuters OneSource Global trade classifier Tool. Identifying and suggesting enhancement features to speed up or enrich the tool interaction for the users.
  • Driving continuous processes improvement/development including tools and automation
  • Mentor/train team and new hires; suggest improvements to training
  • Customs Classification Analyst to provide backend support for any Customs claims with respect to classification issues. Back-office support with data analysis, review, historical data, correct/incorrect classifications etc. However, leading or front ending the customs authorities will be with CTCOs
  • Review the ECN/ECCN and HTS classifications with the (Country) Trade Compliance Officer, and update master data in SAP GTS with ECN/ECCN and HTS classification as required. CTCOs are responsible to update the Trade Data in GTS and should ensure its promptness.
