Purpose Of The Position A General Manager in a furniture manufacturing unit plays a crucial role in overseeing various aspects of the business to ensure its smooth operation and growth. Key Responsibilities & Duties Strategic Planning: Develop and implement the company\'s strategic goals and objectives, including growth plans, cost control strategies, and market expansion. Develop long-term business plans and initiatives to ensure the sustainability and growth of the furniture manufacturing unit. Operational Oversight Manage day-to-day operations of the manufacturing unit, ensuring that production schedules are met, quality standards are maintained, and safety protocols are followed. Address operational challenges and resolve issues as they arise. Implement corrective actions and preventive measures to minimize disruptions. Financial Management Monitor the financial health of the company, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control. This includes managing expenses, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring profitability. Resource Management Allocate resources efficiently, including raw materials, equipment, and labour, to meet production targets while minimizing waste and optimizing productivity. Quality Control Ensure that the furniture produced meets quality standards and specifications. Implement quality control processes and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality. Supply Chain Management Oversee the procurement of raw materials, manage supplier relationships, and optimize inventory levels to ensure a steady and cost-effective supply chain. Identify potential strategic partners, suppliers, or distributors that can contribute to the growth and success of the manufacturing unit. Human Resources Recruit, train, and manage staff, including production workers, supervisors, and administrative personnel. Create a positive work environment and promote employee development and retention. Health And Safety Implement and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe workplace for employees and comply with relevant regulations. Sales And Marketing Support Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to understand market trends, customer demands, and competition. Ensure that production aligns with sales forecasts and market demand. Customer Relations Maintain strong relationships with key customers and address any concerns or issues promptly. Ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty. Cost Control Identify opportunities to reduce production costs, improve efficiency, and streamline processes. Implement cost-saving measures without compromising product quality. Regulatory Compliance Stay informed about industry regulations, environmental standards, and safety requirements. Ensure the company complies with all applicable laws and regulations. Technology And Innovation Keep abreast of technological advancements in furniture manufacturing and explore opportunities for process improvements and automation. Reporting And Analysis Prepare regular reports on key performance indicators, financial results, and production metrics. Analyse data to make informed decisions and adjust strategies as needed. Sustainability And Environmental Responsibility Promote sustainable manufacturing practices and environmental responsibility within the organization. Academic & Trades Qualifications Education: Master\'s degree or Bachelor\'s degree in industrial, manufacturing or quality engineering Work Experience & Skills 15+ years direct progressive experience in a furniture manufacturing facility. 10+ years team management experience of various levels Experience in implementation of Lean Manufacturing and using Kaizen as a tool for continuous improvement. Experience in Operations of Paint, Finishing and Assembly processes is desirable. Demonstrated ability to create and lead teams to drive change. Experience in managing operations. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Some travel may be required.
