Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic General Manager (GM) with a Strong background in project management to oversee and drive operations for a Solar Power company. This role requires a dynamic leader who can manage cross-functional teams across operations, procurement, warehouse management, service delivery, and project execution. The GM will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. This includes managing the overall operational efficiency, driving performance improvements, and coordinating closely with project managers to ensure that project goals are met seamlessly with the company's broader business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to optimize performance, streamline processes, and manage resources efficiently. Job Responsibilities: Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth execution of projects and activities across all departments (operations, procurement, warehouse, service teams, and project execution). Drive operational excellence by implementing efficient processes to reduce costs, improve service delivery quality, and meet project timelines. Foster strong collaboration between internal teams and external vendors, contractors, and stakeholders to support the successful execution of solar projects. Project Management & Execution: Take on an active role in the management and oversight of 20-30 solar EPC projects at any given time, in collaboration with the project managers ensuring the projects are executed on schedule, within scope, and on budget. Work closely with Project Managers to plan and execute rooftop residential, commercial, and industrial solar installations. Ensure project requirements are met in collaboration with site supervisors, procurement, warehouse teams, and the design team. Proactively identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and address project challenges to ensure successful project completion. Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, safety standards, and company protocols on all projects. Team Leadership and Management: Lead, manage, and mentor cross-functional teams, including project managers, procurement, warehouse, execution, and service departments. Set clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations across teams, ensuring alignment with overall company goals. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, productivity, and collaboration to drive team performance. Act as the escalation point for team issues, client concerns, and operational challenges, offering guidance and support. Develop and implement team training programs, enhance skills, and ensure that the teams are up-to-date on company processes, safety procedures, and industry standards. Procurement, Warehouse & Resource Management: Oversee procurement activities to ensure that materials and services are sourced and delivered according to project schedules and requirements. Supervise warehouse operations, ensuring efficient inventory management and timely distribution of materials for project execution. Coordinate with project managers and procurement to ensure that project timelines and procurement schedules align and that quality materials are sourced for all solar installations. Budget and Financial Management: Oversee the budget management for projects and departments, ensuring financial resources are allocated efficiently and operations remain within budget. Work closely with the finance team to track expenses, review cost reports, and implement cost-control measures. Ensure that project budgets are adhered to, and take proactive steps to manage cost. Collaboration and Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between internal teams and external partners, contractors, and vendors. Collaborate with the design team to ensure that site designs and project specifications are updated and available ahead of execution. Ensure clear communication across teams to guarantee material availability, project requirements are met, and tasks are completed on time. Engage in effective client communication to ensure alignment of expectations and satisfaction with project outcomes. Strategic Planning and Process Improvement: Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize resource allocation. Identify operational bottlenecks and inefficiencies, using process improvements to streamline operations and enhance productivity. Lead continuous improvement initiatives across all departments, including procurement, warehouse, service, and project execution, ensuring that performance metrics align with company goals and financial targets. Regulatory Compliance and Safety Standards: Ensure that all projects and operational activities comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and permitting processes. Oversee the preparation and submission of necessary documentation, including contracts, regulatory filings, and safety records. Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred. At least 7-10 years of experience in operations management, with a strong background in project management, preferred to be in renewable energy or any adjacent industries e.g construction, or manufacturing sectors. Proven leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and driving operational excellence. Expertise in procurement, logistics, warehouse management, and operational oversight. Strong understanding of budget management, cost control, and financial performance metrics, particularly in large-scale projects. Knowledge of solar energy systems, installation practices, and relevant regulations. PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is preferred. Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to act quickly in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
