The Gaushala Manager is responsible for the overall management and operations of the gaushala (cow shelter). This includes ensuring the health and well-being of the cows, overseeing staff, managing financial and administrative tasks, and coordinating with various stakeholders. The Gaushala Manager will implement strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the gaushala, ensuring a sustainable and ethical environment for the cows.
Key Responsibilities
• Animal Health and Welfare
• Ensure the health and well-being of all cows by implementing proper feeding, healthcare, and shelter protocols.
• Coordinate regular veterinary check-ups and manage medical treatments as needed.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the gaushala.
• Staff Supervision and Management
• Recruit, train, and supervise gaushala staff, ensuring they are well-informed and capable of performing their duties.
• Develop work schedules and assign tasks to staff.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing support and training to staff members.
• Operations Management
• Oversee daily operations, including feeding, milking, cleaning, and general maintenance.
• Ensure the timely procurement of feed, medicines, and other necessary supplies.
• Manage the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment.
• Financial Management
• Prepare and manage the gaushala's budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
• Maintain accurate financial records and oversee all financial transactions.
• Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants and donations.
• Administrative Duties
• Maintain comprehensive records of all gaushala activities, including animal health, inventory, and financial transactions.
• Prepare and present regular reports to management or governing bodies.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
• Community Engagement and Public Relations
• Promote the gaushala's activities and objectives to the local community and potential donors.
• Organize and participate in community outreach programs, workshops, and events.
• Develop and maintain relationships with local authorities, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
• Strategic Planning and Development
• Develop and implement strategies to improve the gaushala's operations and sustainability.
• Identify opportunities for growth and expansion of gaushala activities.
• Ensure the gaushala is meeting its long-term goals and objectives.
Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, Business Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum of 1-4 years of experience in animal care, farm management, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
• Skills:
• Strong leadership and management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficient in financial management and budgeting.
• Knowledge of animal health and welfare practices.
• Ability to use computer software for record-keeping, reporting, and communication.
