Vacha is a Resource Centre for Girls and Women based in Mumbai. Vacha means speech, articulation and self-expression. Started as a women's library and cultural centre in 1987, it was registered as Vacha Charitable Trust in 1990. Envisioning a society built on the principles of social justice, equity and democracy, Vacha establishes safe educational centres for adolescent girls in their bastis by providing them with 21stcentury life skills such as computer training, conversational English and social awareness. Vacha ideates and creates learning resources including audio-visual materials, booklets and modules in joint collaboration with the programme participants, Vacha staff and other experts. Vacha's vision is of world without exploitation, oppression, or discrimination against women, girls or any other section of society. Our mission is to focus on issues of girls and women through educational programmes, resource creation, research, training, networking and awareness building. Belief in girls' leadership and visibilising girls' issues at micro and macro level are the core components of our work.

About the Role
Vacha seeks a passionate and results-oriented Fundraising & Collaboration Incharge to join our dynamic team on a part-time, onsite basis. You will play a pivotal role in securing the financial resources needed to fuel our mission and ensure the sustainability of our programs. This is an opportunity to leverage your fundraising expertise to make a real difference in the lives of young girls.
Responsibilities
• Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies, tailoring them to specific donor demographics and funding opportunities.
• Become a fundraising thought leader by researching and identifying innovative fundraising methods, including grant diversification strategies, cause-related marketing campaigns, and peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives.
• Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors, foundations, and corporate partners, fostering long-term partnerships that secure recurring donations and major gifts.
• Craft compelling grant proposals and funding applications that articulate Vacha's impact and align strategically with funder priorities, ensuring adherence to deadlines and guidelines.
• Prepare detailed and realistic budgets and financial projections to demonstrate the efficient and effective use of donated funds.
• Develop and manage a robust prospect research system to identify, qualify, and segment potential donors, ensuring efficient use of resources.
• Leverage data analysis skills to track and assess fundraising campaign effectiveness, identifying areas for improvement and optimizing strategies for maximum impact.
• Steward donor relationships by providing regular communication and updates on the impact of their contributions, fostering a sense of connection and partnership.
• Collaborate closely with the program team to design and conceptualize impactful projects that resonate with funders and address crucial needs within the community.
• Develop engaging presentations that effectively communicate Vacha's mission, impact, and funding needs to potential partners and collaborators.
• Represent Vacha Resource Centre for Girls at various forums, seminars, and meetings, serving as a knowledgeable and passionate ambassador for the organization.
• Manage the entire fundraising process, including proposal writing, budget preparation, developing Monitoring & Evaluation plans (M&E plans), and all necessary documentation.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy to increase visibility for Vacha's work across various platforms, including social media, website content, and media outreach.
• Stay current on the latest trends and best practices in fundraising by attending relevant conferences, workshops, and webinars.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the fundraising department by sharing best practices, mentoring junior team members (if applicable), and fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment.
Skills & Qualifications
• Exceptional communication and articulation skills with a strong command of the English language.
• Proficiency in a variety of computer applications, including CRM software, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, database management systems, and ideally, fundraising-specific software.
• Deep understanding and unwavering passion for Vacha's programs and feminist principles.
• Master's degree in Social Sciences (M.S.) or a related field preferred.
• Exceptional interpersonal and people skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders and cultivate long-term relationships.
• 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, preferably within the non-profit sector, with a proven track record of securing funding from various sources.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently within a part-time schedule.
• Strong work ethic and a results-oriented mindset with a passion for exceeding goals.
