Identify and secure freight from shippers or customers that need transportation services.
Develop and maintain relationships with carriers, negotiating rates and capacity to ensure reliable transportation solutions.
Analyze customer requirements and match them with suitable carriers or transportation providers based on factors such as load size, destination, and delivery timeline.
Negotiate competitive rates with both shippers and carriers, considering market conditions, distance, equipment type, and other relevant factors.
Ensure accurate and timely completion of paperwork, including bills of lading, customs documentation, insurance forms, and other required documents.
Arrange and coordinate the pickup, transportation, and delivery of freight, communicating with shippers, carriers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
Monitor the progress of shipments and provide updates to customers, addressing any issues or delays that may arise during transit.
Proactively address operational or logistical challenges, finding efficient solutions to minimize disruptions and meet customer expectations.
Stay updated on transportation regulations, licensing requirements, and safety standards, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks.
Manage financial aspects, including billing, invoicing, and payment reconciliation, to ensure accurate and timely financial transactions.
Utilize freight management software and other relevant technologies to streamline processes, track shipments, and enhance operational efficiency.
Requirements:
Understanding of the transportation industry.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with customers, carriers, and other stakeholders.
Ability to negotiate rates, contracts, and terms with customers and carriers to achieve mutually beneficial agreements.
Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple shipments, deadlines, and paperwork accurately and efficiently.
