As a Formulation Scientist in the pharmaceutical industry, your primary responsibility is to develop and optimize formulations for new drug products or improve existing formulations. Here are the typical roles and responsibilities associated with this position:
Formulation Development: Designing and developing formulations for new pharmaceutical products, considering factors such as drug stability, solubility, bioavailability, and delivery mechanisms.
Experimental Design and Testing: Planning and conducting experiments to evaluate the performance of different formulations, including pre-formulation studies, compatibility testing, and stability testing under various conditions.
Optimization of Formulations: Iteratively refining formulations to achieve desired product attributes, such as optimal drug release profiles, physical stability, and shelf-life, while meeting regulatory requirements.
Formulation Scale-Up: Translating laboratory-scale formulations into large-scale manufacturing processes, ensuring scalability, reproducibility, and cost-effectiveness of the manufacturing process.
Quality Control and Assurance: Collaborating with quality control and assurance teams to establish specifications and testing protocols for raw materials, intermediates, and finished products, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
