Lead and manage the formulation and development team, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to achieve departmental goals.
Drive product innovation and improvement initiatives through the formulation and development process.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Research and Development, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory Affairs, to define project objectives, timelines, and resource requirements.
Develop and execute project plans for new product development, including formulation design, stability testing, process optimization, and scale-up activities.
Conduct thorough literature reviews and stay updated on industry trends to identify new ingredients, technologies, and formulation approaches.
Lead formulation optimization efforts to improve product performance, stability, and manufacturability.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines for product formulation and development, including ingredient safety and labeling requirements.
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to transfer developed formulations into production, providing technical support and troubleshooting as needed.
Establish and maintain relationships with external vendors and contract manufacturers to leverage expertise and resources for formulation and development projects.
Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses to evaluate the commercial viability of new formulations and technologies.
Manage the documentation and record-keeping processes related to formulation and development activities, including batch records, specifications, and technical reports.
Qualifications:
Bachelor\'s degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field. A Master\'s or Ph.D. degree is preferred.
Proven experience in formulation and development, preferably in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, or consumer goods industry.
Strong knowledge of formulation principles, techniques, and processes, including emulsions, suspensions, and solid dosage forms.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and guidelines for product formulation and development, such as FDA, EMA, or other relevant agencies.
Experience in leading and managing a team of scientists and technicians.
Proficient in project management methodologies and tools, with the ability to effectively plan, prioritize, and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex scientific data and make data-driven decisions.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and present technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Quality Management Systems.
Familiarity with statistical analysis and design of experiments (DOE) is a plus.
Proficient in using formulation software and tools.
