: Food Safety Officer
Location: Tandoori Tamashaa, Ilara Hotels
Department: Food & Beverage (Fine Dining Restaurant)
Reports To: Restaurant Manager
Role Summary
The Food Safety Officer will ensure that Tandoori Tamashaa adheres to all food safety and hygiene regulations. This individual will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and auditing food safety practices to maintain high standards, ensure compliance with legal requirements, and enhance customer confidence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Food Safety Management
• Develop, implement, and maintain the restaurant's Food Safety Management System (FSMS).
• Ensure compliance with HACCP, FSSAI, and other applicable food safety standards.
• Conduct regular audits of the kitchen, storage areas, and service zones to identify and mitigate risks.
2. Training and Awareness
• Train kitchen and service staff on proper food handling, hygiene, and safety practices.
• Provide updates and refresher courses on food safety regulations and best practices.
• Promote a culture of food safety awareness among staff.
3. Inspection and Compliance
• Perform routine inspections of food preparation, storage, and service processes to ensure compliance.
• Monitor and enforce adherence to personal hygiene standards for all food handlers.
• Ensure proper labeling, storage, and rotation of food items (FIFO/FEFO methods).
4. Documentation and Reporting
• Maintain detailed records of food safety checks, incidents, and corrective actions.
• Prepare regular reports for the Restaurant Manager on compliance status and areas for improvement.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities during inspections or audits.
5. Risk Management
• Identify potential food safety hazards and implement preventive measures.
• Investigate and resolve food safety incidents or complaints promptly and professionally.
• Ensure pest control measures are in place and effectively managed.
Qualifications & Skills
• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field.
• Certification in food safety standards such as HACCP or ISO 22000 is mandatory.
• 2+ years of experience in a food safety role, preferably in a restaurant or hospitality setting.
• Strong knowledge of food safety laws and regulations (e.g., FSSAI standards).
• Proficiency in maintaining documentation and using food safety software/tools.
• Excellent communication and training skills.
• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Working Conditions
• Role requires flexibility to work across shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Involves mobility within the restaurant premises for inspections and audits.
