Job Description

:Job PurposeTo assist in ensuring smooth and efficient production in bulk and sample fabric production with least defects. To coordinate with weaving preparatory to ensure continuous beam supply in looms. To engage in day to day worker handling and periodic trainingJob Context & Major ChallengesThe weaving department in GPFPL consists of weaving preparatory and loom shed sections. The weaving preparatory section consists of warping, sizing and drawing in while the loom shed has 93 running looms. The complexity in the weaves and constructions of designs has got complex over the years, thus, increasing looming complications. Few of the most difficult design to weave include the 20 and 24 shaft designs, jacquard designs, selvedge weaving, jacquard with butta designs etc.
The fabric rejection percentage has always been the key target area for improvement, which is done through in-depth fabric rejection analysis and planning steps for further decrease in looming defects. Also, the worker practices and the worker mindset has been leveraged to achieve targets.
As compared to other premium fabric manufacturing segment, the GPFPL production facility is better in producing fabrics with lesser defects, high worker skill levels and standardized procedures. Many competitor premium fabric companies like Raymond, Aravind etc. order for complex design looming in GPFPL because of high looming accuracy leading to less fabric defects. The loom efficiency is around 80%. There are various avoidable and unavoidable reasons because of which loom efficiency is hampered. The avoidable reasons include gaiting & knotting correctness, wait time period for knotting & gaiting, machine handling time etc.Challenges
1. Meeting target efficiency level under looming constraints of complex designs
2. Adjusting looms as per new designs frequently with minimum impact on breakage levelKey Result Areas KRA (Accountabilities) (Max 1325 Characters) Supporting Actions (Max 1325 Characters)
