Job Context & Major Challenges
Job Context:
Grasilene Division was set up in 1977 to manufacture Viscose Staple Fibre with a capacity of 12 Tons per day, which was gradually increased to 240 Tons per day. Electrical Department of Grasilene Division plays a major role in power generation and distribution for manufacturing process. Grasilene division has a captive power plant with 06 Nos of Coal fired boilers and Turbo-Generator sets comprising of one 10 MW & one 20 MW . Grasilene division also has an arrangement to draw power from 10 MW TG of Pulp Division through under ground cable. Grasilene division has a separate source of KPTCL which can be drawn through the under ground cable from the 66 KV substation situated at HPF. The above sources of power are received and distributed at 11 KV substations located at Power Plant, PCC-1, PCC-2 and CS2 furnace. Grasilene division can also supply power to Pulp division as and when required. Most of the Electrical installations and sensitive electronic devices like Variable Frequency Drives, Programmable Logic Controllers, DCS and Controllers for Eddy current drives, ESP, Turbo generator located through out the plant are prone to corrosion and Fire.
Other Major Challenges:
Unit Specific
1. Positioning of control room near to corrosive area
2. Remoteness delays OEM service support
3. Old installation doesn't meet electrical standards & statutory stipulations
Role challenges
1. Maintaining continuous operations with large number of interlocks and instrumentations
2. Trouble shooting of Programme logic controllers because of integrated process, hydraulic , mechanical and instrumentation signals
3. Motivating and coaching on high technological developments to the team members and also to the workforce having a low level of literacy. of HT/LT panel preventive maintenance during planned machine stoppages within minimum available time.
4. Arranging continuous Power supply for manufacturing process from different substations during shift duty hours.
5. Arranging Grid power supply to Energy Centre during TG blackout in shift duty hours.
6. Arranging alternate power supply to critical and emergency equipments in the event of TG blackout during shift duty hours.
7. Providing emergency power to pulp division during failure of their TG without affecting manufacturing process at fibre plant.
8. Arranging load shedding in fibre plant during problems in TG / Boilers without affecting the single line production equipments.
9. Impart on job training to young & newly recruited workforce having no exposure to industry.
10. Maintaining healthiness of EMS which is prone to failures due to corrosion.
11. Over time control of shift workmen who have taken leave in advance intimation by deputing G-shift workmen.
