Viscose is one of the two starting materials for Rayon Yarn manufacturing. The quality of these two materials has vital impact on quality of Rayon Yarn and Rayon Yarn quality is a deciding factor for revenue generation. Besides quality, operations in Viscose can affect the safety and sustainability of the organization, this is attributed to the raw materials handled, Carbon di-suplhide, highly flammable and 98% Sulphuric acid, 32% Caustic both are highly corrosive in nature.Viscose manufacturing is a complex process and in general it is a belief that controlling viscose process is more of an art than science, developing people and keeping their aspiration high to quickly learn the art of viscose making is another major demand of this role.Major Challenges
Continually improve safety culture in Viscose plant.
Being energy intensive units, optimizing energy uses in both the plants (Steam, power, water).
Minimizing variation in Viscose process by suitably changing the control methodology and by building capabilities of the team members.
Pulp is one of the major cost center of Rayon Yarn manufacturing, usage of cost effective pulp as per management directive without compromising viscose quality and internal customer satisfaction.
Continually improving quality of anhydrous sodium sulphate to improve customer end quality experience.Key Result Areas KRA (Accountabilities) (Max 1325 Characters) Supporting Actions (Max 1325 Characters)
KRA1 Ensuring safety and sustainability in Viscose operations. Aligned operations and documentations as per various ISO standards for quality, environment and occupational health management.
Suggested and implemented various interlocks through DCS for safe operations of batch reactor, vertical mixer etc.
Active involvement to support behavior base safety initiative in PSY plant through Safety observation and audit sub-committee.
Ensuring workmen involvement towards improvement of safe working conditions at shop floor through various channels such as departmental safety committee, suggestions scheme to improve ergonomics on shop floor.
Systematic assurance to the availability of required PPE, safety appliances and medicine to the workmen.
KRA2 Production Planning Steering production operations for realization of Viscose production and productivity targets as a DH- Vis & SB (P).
Introducing process improvement plan to control wastages and improve operational efficiency
KRA3 Process Excellence, cost reduction and productivity & efficiency improvement. Systematically maintaining production records with total accuracy and authenticity.
Driving energy conservation measures to rationalize energy consumption and generate cost savings.
Contributing leadership to team members/ workmen and providing them incessant motivational inputs to achieve defined production targets.
Continual search for feasibility to shift the operations from manual to AUTO mode there by eliminating chances of manual error
