Position Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Fitness Trainer (Male/Female) to work in our rehab & fitness centre. The primary responsibility of this role is to assist patients in their recovery process through fitness training tailored to orthopedic rehabilitation. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of physical therapy, injury recovery, and post-operative rehabilitation exercises. The fitness trainer will work closely with physiotherapists and orthopedic specialists to create safe, effective, and personalized fitness plans for patients with musculoskeletal issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Medical Professionals:
• Work closely with orthopedic doctors, physiotherapists, and other healthcare providers to create individualized fitness plans for patients recovering from surgery, injury, or chronic musculoskeletal conditions.
• Ensure fitness programs align with the patient's medical treatment and rehabilitation plan.
Design Rehabilitation Exercise Programs:
• Develop and implement exercise programs that aid in the recovery process, focusing on strength, flexibility, balance, and overall fitness.
• Tailor exercises for specific orthopedic conditions such as joint replacements, fractures, arthritis, and other musculoskeletal injuries.
• Provide low-impact, joint-friendly exercises for patients who need gentle recovery methods.
Monitor and Track Progress:
• Monitor patient progress through regular assessments, tracking improvements in strength, mobility, endurance, and overall function.
• Adjust fitness plans as necessary, ensuring the patient's safety and progress are prioritized at all times.
Conduct Safe and Effective Workouts:
• Lead patients through exercises, demonstrating correct form and technique to minimize the risk of injury.
• Ensure exercises are performed within safe limits, gradually increasing intensity as recovery progresses.
Educate and Advise Patients:
• Educate patients about the importance of fitness in orthopedic rehabilitation, injury prevention, and long-term health.
• Offer guidance on how to modify exercises and activities at home, promoting independence and sustained recovery.
Provide Emotional Support and Motivation:
• Offer emotional support, encouragement, and motivation to patients who may be experiencing frustration or challenges during their rehabilitation process.
• Help patients build confidence as they regain strength and mobility.
Maintain Documentation:
• Keep accurate records of patients' progress, treatment plans, and exercise modifications.
• Maintain communication with physiotherapists and medical staff to ensure continuity of care.
Maintain a Safe and Clean Environment:
• Ensure all fitness equipment used during rehabilitation is clean, functional, and appropriately maintained.
• Adhere to clinic safety protocols, ensuring patients' safety during fitness sessions.
Qualifications:
Education:
• A degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physiotherapy, or a related field is preferred.
• Certification in Orthopaedic Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine, or a related specialization is a plus.
Experience:
• Minimum of [1-2] years of experience in personal training or rehabilitation, particularly with orthopaedic patients.
• Experience working in an orthopaedic clinic or healthcare setting is a plus.
• Knowledge of musculoskeletal injuries, recovery processes, and post-operative rehabilitation techniques.
Skills:
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, their families, and the medical team.
• Knowledge of orthopaedic conditions, injury recovery, and rehabilitation exercises.
• Ability to design customized fitness programs that consider the patient's medical history and limitations.
• High degree of professionalism, empathy, and the ability to motivate patients through their recovery journey.
• Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team setting.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to demonstrate exercises and physical movements for patients.
• Must be physically fit and capable of assisting patients with mobility, if necessary.
Work Conditions:
• Full-time or part-time positions available.
• Working hours will vary, including the possibility of evening or weekend shifts to accommodate patient schedules.
• Compensation based on experience and qualifications.
