Careers that Change Lives Medtronic is the world\'s largest medical technology company, offering an unprecedented breadth and depth of innovative therapies to fulfill our Mission of alleviating pain, restoring health, and extending life. Medtronic is currently developing a novel kidney dialysis solution aimed at patients suffering from end-stage renal disease, and to address key infrastructural barriers, in emerging markets. As part of this initiative, Medtronic\'s Renal Care Solutions group has established the (MIDC) in Bengaluru, and is looking to hire talented candidates to work on exciting opportunities. This position is an exciting and new opportunity that is currently part of Medtronic and will move to a to-be-named company we are calling \'NewCo\'. NewCo will be an independent company with equal partners, Medtronic & DaVita. It will be established in calendar 2023 as a new company (NewCo) formed from Medtronic\'s Renal Care Solutions Operating Unit focused on providing innovative technologies to support kidney care patients. While you will start your employment with Medtronic, upon establishment of NewCo your employment will transfer to NewCo and you will no longer be employed by Medtronic. NewCo is uniquely poised to transform renal care and dialysis, building on Medtronic\'s innovation and technology pipeline. The business will have the singular focus, financial commitment, deep domain expertise, and global footprint needed to accelerate the development and commercialization of affordable and scalable life-saving renal care technologies - particularly our transformative home dialysis platform technologies. One of the key deliverables of the MIDC is a stand-alone electromechanical product that will be used in a clinical setting in hospitals. The candidate will develop Firmware (FW) for this product. This includes writing code to control the electromechanical components of the product (electronic drivers to control motors, pumps, valves, heaters, etc.) and to read-back response from various sensors (temperature, flow, conductivity, etc.). Another task would be to implement a user interface - to take control inputs from the user and to display information on the screen. This position involves hands-on engineering design work in the electronics/systems lab for prototyping and design verification activities. The candidate will work in collaboration with a global team based in India, China and USA, throughout the product development lifecycle to bring new products to market. He/she will need to be comfortable dealing with ambiguity, and be confident about combining technical expertise with logical reasoning to make trade-offs between features, time-to-market, and bud get. He/she should have an entrepreneurial spirit, a can-do attitude, and possess great communication/collaboration skills. A desire to work on healthcare applications is a key requirement. This is a high-visibility opportunity to develop a truly innovative product that will impact the lives of millions of patients across India and the world. A Day in the Life Embedded systems programming (C++) for a new electromechanical product that will be used in hospitals - to control actuators, to read-back from sensors and/or to implement a User Interface. Work with the FW Test engineers to develop formal design verification and validation plans and perform or oversee testing in the lab. Work with quality/reliability engineering to identify and minimize sources of technical and practical risk, and ensure the product meets medical device-related safety standards. Maintain high quality documentation of the entire design. Develop user manuals and troubleshooting guidelines for end users. Ensure that the FW design meets IEC 62304 standards. Must Have: Minimum Requirements Basic Qualifications: Bachelor\'s degree in Electronics Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent Experience coding in embedded C++ and Assembly Language Programming. Experience with TI microcontrollers TIVA 123 or 129 and the Code Composer Studio IDE would be a bonus. Experience working with evaluation kits / development kits for emulation of final design Experience writing device drivers, APIs and FPGA programming Experience with software/firmware verification and testing, and generating high quality documentation of the design and test results Experience working in the hardware lab with knowledge of electronic equipment such as multimeters, function generators, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc. Experience working on multiple stages of the product development lifecycle (project initiation, design completion, release, and maintenance) Excellent verbal and written communication skills Able to work in cross-functional and global teams, and participate in early morning or late-night calls Desired/Preferred Qualifications: Basic understanding of multiple technical fields. E.g, if you are an electronics engineer, it would be a bonus for you to have knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts (motors, pumps and fluid mechanics), or biomedical concepts (human anatomy, diseases, diagnostics, therapy) Experience developing graphical user interfaces (for display as well as procuring user inputs) Experience in Linux/Android BSP Experience working in medical device domain Experience working in a regulated industry (healthcare, automotive, aerospace) Experience with Quantum Leaps (QP) state machine design framework Experience with LabVIEW and/or Matlab programming
