A Fire Technician is a specialist responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire protection and safety systems. Their role ensures that buildings and structures are equipped with functioning fire prevention and suppression equipment to protect life and property in case of emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Installation of Fire Protection Systems :
• Install fire alarms, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, fire suppression systems, and sprinkler systems in buildings.
• Ensure the correct placement and wiring of equipment following fire codes and manufacturer guidelines.
• Maintenance and Testing :
• Regularly inspect and test fire protection systems to ensure they are functioning properly.
• Perform maintenance on fire alarms, sprinklers, and suppression systems to prevent malfunction during emergencies.
• Recharge fire extinguishers and replace damaged or worn-out components.
• Repairs and Troubleshooting :
• Diagnose and repair faults in fire protection systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues related to alarms and other fire safety equipment.
• Ensure that all repairs meet safety standards and local regulations.
• Documentation and Reporting :
• Maintain accurate records of installations, inspections, and repairs.
• Prepare detailed reports on the status of fire safety systems, including any required repairs or upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations and codes by keeping up with changes in safety standards.
• Compliance and Auditing :
• Ensure that fire systems comply with local, state, or national fire codes (e.g., NFPA in the U.S. or other regional standards).
• Work with fire inspectors and auditors to confirm that safety protocols are being followed.
• Training and Client Interaction :
• Train building staff and occupants on how to use fire safety equipment, such as extinguishers and alarm panels.
• Provide clients with fire safety recommendations and system upgrades when necessary.
• Communicate with clients to schedule maintenance and ensure their systems meet all necessary safety regulations.
Skills and Qualifications:
