The Fire and Safety Officer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring fire safety systems, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and promoting a safe working environment at the JCBL plant. This position requires hands-on involvement in risk assessments, safety drills, emergency response planning, and ensuring adherence to fire and safety standards across the plant.
Key Responsibilities:
• Fire Safety Management:
• Ensure the proper installation, maintenance, and inspection of fire detection, alarm, and suppression systems.
• Conduct regular fire drills and ensure all employees are trained in fire safety procedures.
• Maintain fire safety equipment, such as extinguishers, alarms, sprinklers, and emergency exits, and ensure they are functional at all times.
• Safety Inspections and Audits:
• Perform regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential fire hazards and implement corrective measures.
• Conduct safety inspections of work areas, machinery, and equipment to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations.
• Maintain records of all safety inspections and repairs made.
• Compliance with Safety Regulations:
• Ensure that the plant complies with local, state, and national fire safety regulations and industry standards.
• Update and implement plant-specific safety policies and procedures in alignment with legal requirements.
• Maintain knowledge of current fire safety laws and recommend changes to company policies where necessary.
• Emergency Response:
• Serve as a key member of the plant's emergency response team, coordinating actions during emergencies.
• Develop and maintain emergency evacuation plans, and ensure that all employees are familiar with them.
• Provide immediate response and support in the event of a fire or other safety-related incidents.
• Training and Awareness:
• Conduct fire and safety training sessions for employees, ensuring they understand emergency procedures and use of safety equipment.
• Keep the plant staff informed about fire hazards, first-aid techniques, and other safety practices.
• Regularly update the safety training materials to reflect current fire safety practices and regulations.
• Reporting and Documentation:
• Maintain logs of all fire drills, inspections, incidents, and corrective actions taken.
• Prepare and submit periodic reports on fire safety activities and compliance status to management.
• Investigate any fire or safety incidents and report findings with recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications:
• Educational Qualification:
• Minimum Diploma in Fire and Safety Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Additional certifications in Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA, NEBOSH, etc.) would be an advantage.
• Experience:
• At least 2-3 years of experience as a Fire and Safety Officer, preferably in an industrial environment (manufacturing, automotive, etc.).
